Tokyo, Feb 21, 2014 - (JCN Newswire) - Mazda Motor Corporation will premiere the Mazda HAZUMI next-generation subcompact car concept at the Geneva Motor Show which opens on March 6 and runs through March 16, 2014.(1)
The name HAZUMI is a Japanese word meaning to 'bound or spring up.' Chosen to convey the image of an untamed animal leaping, it is particularly fitting for a small car designed to look as if it is literally bursting with energy. Refusing to compromise on any of Mazda's vehicle engineering principles, the Mazda HAZUMI expresses the ideal form of the company's next-generation subcompact car.
Also at the Geneva Motor Show, Mazda will debut the SKYACTIV-D 1.5, a newly developed small displacement clean diesel engine, and display a commemorative exhibit celebrating 25 years since the launch of the Mazda MX-5 (known as Mazda Roadster in Japan).
(1) Officially titled 84e Salon International de l'Auto de Geneve, the Geneva International Motor Show press days are March 4.
Mazda Motor Corporation (TSE: 7261) started manufacturing tools in 1929 and soon branched out into production of trucks for commercial use. In the early 1960s, Mazda launched its first passenger car models and began developing rotary engines. Still headquartered in Hiroshima in western Japan, Mazda today ranks as one of Japan's leading automakers, and exports cars to the United States and Europe for over 30 years.
