Lightower Fiber Networks Sees Considerable Efficiency Gains With Mobile Forms Technology

Lightower Fiber Networks, a Leading Fiber Network Services Provider, Has Run a Successful Pilot Project With Mi-Forms Mobile Forms Technology Leading to More Efficient Field Data Collection Processes & Cost Savings of $400/Day

DURHAM, NC -- (Marketwired) -- 02/21/14 -- Mi-Corporation, the provider of the most flexible mobile-forms software platform, Mi-Forms, announces that Lightower Fiber Networks, a leading fiber network services provider, has completed a successful pilot project to capture field data using Tablets and Mi-Forms mobile forms software leading to more streamlined processes & cost savings of $400/day in one region alone.

The Lightower Fiber Networks North East region Construction team piloted this technology to capture rich data such as photographs, GPS coordinates, narrative comments and annotations, in remote, offline environments and successfully managed to move from the previous paper-based processes.

According to Mike Saraceno, Manager of the North East region Construction team, "I was tasked to find a way to enhance productivity and efficiencies within my group. I tried a variety of apps and software that although were helpful and more efficient than our current process, none were the total package. I also inquired about creating my own app but found it was more expensive than I would of ever imagined. I spent about 10 months with these products and figured I'd have to settle with one until I searched one last time and found Mi-Co. I downloaded the trial version and could not believe what I found. Every great function of every other form was all packaged up in this one version. If I had a chance to create a form myself, this would be exactly what I'd shoot for. Not only did it have all the necessary tools the group needed and then some, but it was VERY user friendly. To top it off, the staff has been nothing short of impressive with how they continuously help with any questions, concerns and updates at a moment's notice. I could not be any happier with this product and company. It has truly been a godsend."

Lightower Fiber Networks is planning to rollout Mi-Forms mobile forms software nationwide to other field construction teams this year and to apply the same transformation to other areas as well.

The term culture has had a polarizing effect among DevOps supporters. Some propose that culture change is critical for success with DevOps, but are remiss to define culture. Some talk about a DevOps culture but then reference activities that could lead to culture change and there are those that talk about culture change as a set of behaviors that need to be adopted by those in IT. There is no question that businesses successful in adopting a DevOps mindset have seen departmental culture change, ...

We’re entering a new era of computing technology that many are calling the Internet of Things (IoT). Machine to machine, machine to infrastructure, machine to environment, the Internet of Everything, the Internet of Intelligent Things, intelligent systems – call it what you want, but it’s happening, and its potential is huge. The Internet of Things is tied together with a thin strand that is known as time. Coincidentally, at the core of nearly all data analytics is a timestamp. When working with time series data there are a few core principles that everyone should consider, especially across datasets where time is the common boundary. In his session at Internet of @ThingsExpo, Jim Scott, Director of Enterprise Strategy & Architecture at MapR Technologies, discussed single-value, geo-spatial, and log time series dat...

We are reaching the end of the beginning with WebRTC, and real systems using this technology have begun to appear. One challenge that faces every WebRTC deployment (in some form or another) is identity management. Scott Jenson leads a project called The Physical Web within the Chrome team at Google. Project members are working to take the scalability and openness of the web and use it to talk to the exponentially exploding range of smart devices. Nearly every company today working on the IoT comes up with the same basic solution: use my server and you'll be fine. But if we really believe there will be trillions of these devices, that just can't scale. We need a system that is open a scalable and by using ...
