- Enables 60 fps playback of 1080p content on quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 processors -
Chandigarh, India, Feb 24, 2014 - (ACN Newswire) - Ace Thought Technologies, a leading provider of media processing software, has announced the release of highly optimized, multi-threaded, power efficient and real-time H.265/HEVC video decoder software for ARM Cortex-A series and x86 processors. The software enables a rich entertainment experience across smart-phones, tablets, set-top boxes, smart TVs and connected devices.
The HEVC decoder for ARM processor provides scalable performance by utilizing ARM NEON SIMD and multi-core processor technologies. It is scalable up to 8 cores and enables 60 fps playback of 1080p HD resolution content on quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 processor. The software enables the creation of high-quality player application on existing Android, iOS and Windows Phone 8 based tablets and smart-phones.
The HEVC decoder for x86 processors enables 60fps playback of 4K resolution content on quad-core x86 processors. This decoder is scalable up to 8 cores and utilizes the SIMD instruction set of x86 processors, adopting HEVC content delivery on current and previous generation x86 processors.
"The multi-threaded HEVC video decoder opens up exciting possibilities for our clients. They can offer high quality video solutions at half the bit-rate as compared to H.264 standard", said Munish Jindal, CEO at Ace Thought Technologies. "The scalable design of HEVC video decoder allows it to efficiently support single, dual, quad and octa-core application processors in a single library, thereby, enabling high quality performance at low cost."
Ace Thought Technologies will be visiting Mobile World Congress 2014 from 24 - 27 February in Barcelona. To arrange a meeting or a demo, please email at [email protected].

The security devil is always in the details of the attack: the ones you've endured, the ones you prepare yourself to fend off, and the ones that, you fear, will catch you completely unaware and defenseless. The Internet of Things (IoT) is nothing if not an endless proliferation of details. It's the vision of a world in which continuous Internet connectivity and addressability is embedded into a growing range of human artifacts, into the natural world, and even into our smartphones, appliances, a...

Fundamentally, SDN is still mostly about network plumbing. While plumbing may be useful to tinker with, what you can do with your plumbing is far more intriguing. A rigid interpretation of SDN confines it to Layers 2 and 3, and that's reasonable. But SDN opens opportunities for novel constructions in Layers 4 to 7 that solve real operational problems in data centers. "Data center," in fact, might become anachronistic - data is everywhere, constantly on the move, seemingly always overflowing. Net...

WebRTC defines no default signaling protocol, causing fragmentation between WebRTC silos. SIP and XMPP provide possibilities, but come with considerable complexity and are not designed for use in a web environment. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Matthew Hodgson, technical co-founder of the Matrix.org, discussed how Matrix is a new non-profit Open Source Project that defines both a new HTTP-based standard for VoIP & IM signaling and provides reference implementations.

How do APIs and IoT relate? The answer is not as simple as merely adding an API on top of a dumb device, but rather about understanding the architectural patterns for implementing an IoT fabric. There are typically two or three trends: Exposing the device to a management framework Exposing that management framework to a business centric logic Exposing that business layer and data to end users. This last trend is the IoT stack, which involves a new shift in the separation of what stuff happe...

Scott Jenson leads a project called The Physical Web within the Chrome team at Google. Project members are working to take the scalability and openness of the web and use it to talk to the exponentially exploding range of smart devices. Nearly every company today working on the IoT comes up with the same basic solution: use my server and you'll be fine. But if we really believe there will be trillions of these devices, that just can't scale. We need a system that is open a scalable and by using ...
