KT Collaborates with Radisys to Deliver Intel®-based Small Cell Solutions across Its LTE WARP+ Network

KT Corporation today announced its next-generation small cell solutions targeted at the migration of LTE WARP to WARP+ for both Network and Service Evolution. The Intel® Transcede™ SoC platform supported by Radisys’ LTE TOTALeNodeB™ small cell software serves as the foundation for all of KT’s small cell solutions, from residential to enterprise and outdoor picocells, with enterprise deployments underway.

Radisys’ Trillium® TOTALeNodeB software is a turn-key, deployment proven small cell solution that dramatically simplifies the development and integration of LTE small cells while cutting the typical product development time in half. It enables customers to leverage one software solution that can support all small cell deployments across the network, from residential cells that support up to eight users to Pico cells that support 100+ users. This scalability enables rapid deployment.

Intel Transcede SoCs are dual-mode capable devices that support concurrent 3G and LTE operation combined with carrier-class software. The Intel Transcede SoC family of devices, T2xxx and T3xxx, includes support for time division synchronous code division multiple access (TD-SCDMA), wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA)/high-speed packet access (HSPA+) and both frequency division duplexing LTE (FDD-LTE) and time division multiplexing (TD-LTE). The T2xxx family helps operators meet the needs of cost and time to market for the residential to enterprise segment, while the T3xxx family provides operators with the high end capability for the enterprise to Pico and Metro segments. Both families of devices are in production today.

Radisys’ Intel®-based solution has been integrated by a number of small cell vendors into their product portfolios, including Qucell, Juni Korea and Dongwon T&I. These companies have worked with Radisys and Intel to deploy commercial small cells across KT’s LTE WARP+ network.

In the domain of small cell, KT is the most proactive and aggressive global operator in the world in that it has successfully completed the deployment of world-first massive LTE femto cells across the commercial network in 2013 and is going to roll out residential femto cells as well as outdoor femto cells in 2014.

Small Cell Solutions at Mobile World Congress

KT, Intel, and Radisys will be demonstrating a world-first carrier aggregation (CA) LTE small cell solution in Hall 3, Stand 3A11 Connected City of KT booth at Mobile World Congress, February 24-27 in Barcelona. It was jointly developed by KT, Intel, and Radisys. Radisys and Intel will be showcasing small cell solutions at Mobile World Congress. Radisys will also be hosting meetings with its small cell experts at the show in Hall 5, Stand 5I61.
