Trustonic and Samsung KNOX Announce Partnership to Enable the Next Generation of High Trust, High Value Services

Trustonic, the leading provider of Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) for smart devices, today announced a partnership with Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a leader in mobile technology and digital solutions. As a result of this partnership, Samsung smartphones and tablets will now deliver a secure, trusted platform upon which service providers can innovate to deliver an enriched, simplified and consistent user experience.

At the heart of this partnership is Samsung KNOX, Samsung’s end-to-end secure enterprise mobility solution designed to provide advanced data and privacy protection for both enterprises and consumers. The Trustonic TEE adds a hardware-isolated foundation to KNOX in order to secure the platform and the services running within it. The KNOX App Developer Eco-system will now be able to utilize best-in-class hardware-backed security features made accessible through the Trustonic ‹t™-base TEE.

“Samsung has already deployed more than 150 million devices that use Trustonic ‹t™-base TEE technology to underpin the integrity of the KNOX platform.” Said Injong Rhee, Senior Vice President of KNOX Business, IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics. “With these new advanced capabilities, we are strengthening the KNOX eco-system to develop new and innovative apps built on a more secure platform and exploring market opportunities in all segments on existing and future devices.”

Hardware-based security has traditionally been isolated, limited, and locked down at the point of manufacture to a single use case or industry stakeholder. This partnership unlocks a new set of secure service availability for developers and is designed to protect applications and data from software based attacks. Services can be protected from the cloud to the device, including user interactions with touchscreens, displays and fingerprint sensors.

The partnership will also bring important new capabilities to devices for the first time, including a Trusted User Interface, which simplifies user authentication by enabling simpler passwords, protects against attempts at click-jacking, and increases end user confidence that transaction approvals are genuine. Furthermore, Trustonic ‹t™-base TEE allows additional secure functions to be added when needed, allowing application developers to access advanced security capabilities without the need to embed components prior to manufacture of the device.

“The Trustonic developer ecosystem has grown ten-fold since launching six months ago and we now have partners building trust-enhanced services across enterprise, content, commerce and identity verticals." said Ben Cade, CEO of Trustonic. “We are excited to partner with Samsung and see these innovative services come to life across the Samsung device portfolio and we look forward to helping Samsung KNOX partners deliver the industry’s most compelling enterprise solutions."

The partnership ensures the most demanding of government, enterprise and financial services clients have a complete, powerful platform incorporating strong user authentication, single sign-on, secure tokenisation, and enhanced trust for mobile device management. In adopting KNOX, enterprises and enterprise service providers are able to utilize all the benefits of both KNOX and Trustonic ‹t™-base TEE for highly secure, high value enterprise grade productivity on a broad range of Samsung devices including Galaxy S4 and Note 3. Further, these new capabilities present the opportunity to deliver trust-enhanced services and to enrich, simplify and expand people’s “everyday” digital lives in areas such as privacy, commerce, banking, premium content consumption, health, and identity.

Starting today, developers will have the opportunity to take advantage of these capabilities by joining the Trustonic ‹t™-base TEE developer partner program. KNOX partners can access this program on special terms.

Want to enable self-service provisioning of application environments in minutes that mirror production? Can you automatically provide rich data with code-level detail back to the developers when issues occur in production? In his session at DevOps Summit, David Tesar, Microsoft Technical Evangelist on Microsoft Azure and DevOps, will discuss how to accomplish this and more utilizing technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Visual Studio online, and Application Insights in this demo-heavy session.
When an enterprise builds a hybrid IaaS cloud connecting its data center to one or more public clouds, security is often a major topic along with the other challenges involved. Security is closely intertwined with the networking choices made for the hybrid cloud. Traditional networking approaches for building a hybrid cloud try to kludge together the enterprise infrastructure with the public cloud. Consequently this approach requires risky, deep "surgery" including changes to firewalls, subnets...
DevOps is all about agility. However, you don't want to be on a high-speed bus to nowhere. The right DevOps approach controls velocity with a tight feedback loop that not only consists of operational data but also incorporates business context. With a business context in the decision making, the right business priorities are incorporated, which results in a higher value creation. In his session at DevOps Summit, Todd Rader, Solutions Architect at AppDynamics, discussed key monitoring techniques...
Some developers believe that monitoring is a function of the operations team. Some operations teams firmly believe that monitoring the systems they maintain is sufficient to run the business successfully. Most of them are wrong. The complexity of today's applications have gone far and beyond the capabilities of "traditional" system-level monitoring tools and approaches and requires much broader knowledge of business and applications as a whole. The goal of DevOps is to connect all aspects of app...
