137 Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group Physicians Honored as 'Top Doctors' by The Northern Virginia Magazine

Physicians represent the best of the best in the Northern Virginia area

ROCKVILLE, Md., Feb. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- One hundred thirty-seven Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group physicians were recognized as "Top Doctors" by Northern Virginia Magazine in its February issue.

The annual "Top Doctors" list is compiled based on peer and panel recommendations. The physicians represented in the list include experts in dozens of medical specialties, from allergy to urology.

"Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group physicians are truly the best of the best and having one hundred thirty-seven honored as 'Top Doctors' is a tangible example of the leading care they provide to Kaiser Permanente members," said Bernadette Loftus, MD, Associate Executive Director, The Permanente Medical Group. "We are thrilled that our physicians have been recognized with this prestigious honor. It is this high value-added expertise that has resulted in so much public recognition for Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States and has earned us the #1 ranking in the region in quality, service, and member satisfaction."

The Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group physicians recognized by Northern Virginia Magazine provide exceptional care to hundreds of thousands of Kaiser Permanente patients who receive their care at our twenty-nine medical centers throughout the area. In fact, Kaiser Permanente's full service medical centers are home to many of these physicians. With 24/7 urgent care, pharmacy, laboratory and radiology, our five full service medical centers are making it more convenient for Kaiser Permanente members to receive high quality care right in their neighborhood.

In addition to the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group physicians being recognized as the "best of the best" in Northern Virginia Magazine, Kaiser Permanente scored the highest among Maryland health maintenance organization (HMO) plans in the Maryland Health Care Commission's 2013 Health Benefit Plan Quality and Performance Report: Measuring the Quality and Performance of Maryland's Commercial Health Benefit Plans.

In 'NCQA's Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2013-2014,' Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States ranked among the top 20 Commercial and Medicare health plans nationwide. In the national Commercial category, Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States ranked 16 out of 484 plans, and is considered a "Best Value" health plan. In the Medicare category, Kaiser Permanente jumped four spots to #8 out of 405 plans nationwide.

Every year, The Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) surveys consumers about their experiences with health plans and their services. This survey has become the national standard for measuring and reporting on the consumer satisfaction with their health plans. The ratings of our Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group physicians have not only surged ahead of our local competitors, but also our primary care physicians and specialists are leaders in the nation when it comes to patient satisfaction. Members of nearly 500 health plans were surveyed – and out of all these nation-wide health plans – Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States members rated their Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group primary care doctors so high that we've earned the #7 ranking in the United States and #1 ranking in Maryland, D.C. and Virginia.
