WhereScape, a provider of data warehouse automation software for modeling, building, extending and running analytic systems development, today announced revenue growth and profitability for the tenth consecutive year. In addition, Mark Budzinski, who guided WhereScape USA from start-up status to more than 350 customers as vice president and General Manager, has been promoted to president of WhereScape USA and will direct the US operations through its next growth phase.
In a related development, WhereScape, headquartered in Auckland, New Zealand with US headquarters in Portland, Oregon, recently completed a financing round of more than $10 million from New Zealand-based investment firm Pioneer Capital, which will help accelerate the company’s expansion and growth worldwide with additional development, sales, and marketing resources. WhereScape was co-founded in 2002 by CEO Michael Whitehead and Chief Scientist Wayne Richmond and has grown to more than 650 customers worldwide, including Union Bank, Lamar Advertising, F5 Networks, MedAssets and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota.
“WhereScape has garnered a well-earned reputation for helping organizations quickly gain value from their data warehousing and business intelligence investments, enabling them to significantly reduce development timeframes with its automated, iterative methodology,” said Shawn Rogers, vice president of research for data warehousing and business intelligence at Enterprise Management Associates. “Add to that WhereScape’s recent financing round and global reseller agreement with Teradata, WhereScape is well-positioned for continued growth and Budzinski was the obvious choice to lead that effort in the US.”
Budzinski, who has been with WhereScape since 2008, has held management positions at Intel, Sequent Computer Systems, RadiSys and Applied Microsystems. He holds an MBA from the Univ. of Oregon, a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the Univ. of Southern California, a BS in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh Univ., and is a graduate of The Buckley School of Public Speaking. As president of WhereScape USA, Budzinski will oversee sales, support, professional services, partnering and marketing.
“We are dedicated to helping organizations eliminate the risks and dramatically reduce the time and costs associated with developing and deploying analytic systems,” said co-founder Whitehead. “Our rapid growth and continued profitability are a true testament to our valued customers and employees. Mark Budzinski witnesses firsthand the challenges that IT organizations face and their desire to better serve the business community with agile, rapid development of data warehouses and related data driven projects. I am pleased to recognize him with this well-deserved promotion.”
WhereScape designs, develops, sells and supports WhereScape 3D, the industry’s first data warehouse discovery tool; and WhereScape RED, the industry’s first and best integrated development environment for building, deploying, managing and renovating data warehouses. WhereScape’s products are used in every kind of analytic system found in today’s commercial environment: from normal-form enterprise data warehouses and data vaults, through user access layers and tiers of dependent data marts, to standalone data marts and reporting systems.
Our more than 650 customers are active and satisfied users of our technologies, and report that, with WhereScape’s products, they are able to build data warehouses with fewer people, few if any diversions, missed deadlines or unmet user expectations, and in record time: in days or weeks, instead of months or years.
