Shri P. Chidambaram, Union Finance Minister, who is also the elected Member of Parliament of Sivaganga, said "I am very happy to welcome Aegis to Sivaganga, which has a large educated population and good infrastructure. Aegis is playing a pioneering role to make Sivaganga an attractive IT / ITES destination for leading domestic companies and also help drive growth by investing in talented youth of Tamil Nadu. I offer them all the support and wish them all the best for this center."

The center will have an initial capacity of 250 seats, which translates into 500 direct white collared jobs and is expected to additionally generate three to four times indirect employment. This expansion marks the 2nd center in Tamil Nadu after Chennai. The Sivaganga center will serve local, regional and well as national clients. Aegis has thrown open the center in record 10 months since laying the foundation stone in April 2013.

"Aegis has always been a front runner in exploring the benefits of impact sourcing by having delivery centers in tier 2 and tier 3 locations of our country. This model offers tangible and intangible benefits to support the thriving domestic market, which requires mainstream BPMs to be more cost effective, provide diversity of locations, skills and capabilities. Aegis Sivaganga will reinforce this strategy of ensuring the local communities are included in the work force by inclusive practices," said Sandip Sen, Global CEO, Aegis Limited.

Aegis facility in Sivaganga is the first building in the city custom-built entirely for an outsourcing company. Aegis Sivaganga is spread across one acre of land, will have modern and world-class facilities such as air conditioned work environment with cafeteria, recreation, and training center.

Sudhir Agarwal, President, Global M&A and Strategy, Aegis Limited, said "We are thankful to the honorable minister and district officials for the support we have received in setting up the center. At Sivaganga, we are very happy to be enabling local youth in fulfilling their career aspirations, who would now have an opportunity to work with a multinational organization in their own home town. Aegis has been steadily expanding its footprint in Indian BPO market and the launch of this facility strengthens our footprint in southern India. "

As part of its Aegis Elite initiative, Aegis launched its delivery centre in Chhindwada, Madhya Pradesh, and has scaled up operations to over 700 people in less than one year. Similarly in Srinagar, it has scaled up to 500 people. Jamshedpur center, which was launched in 2008, today is about 3,000 people strong. These centers are expected to stem migration and also encourage reverse migration, as talented local people who may have moved to other cities for jobs, will now have an opportunity to fulfill their career aspiration in their own hometown.

Wearable devices have come of age. The primary applications of wearables so far have been "the Quantified Self" or the tracking of one's fitness and health status. We propose the evolution of wearables into social and emotional communication devices. Our BE(tm) sensor uses light to visualize the skin conductance response. Our sensors are very inexpensive and can be massively distributed to audiences or groups of any size, in order to gauge reactions to performances, video, or any kind of present...
