MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Regis Corporation (NYSE:RGS), the global leader in the salon industry with brands including Supercuts, SmartStyle, MasterCuts and Regis Salons, has supported breast cancer research for more than 20 years. In keeping with its mission to fund groundbreaking research, The Regis Foundation for Breast Cancer Research recently donated $400,000 to the Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota to fight this devastating disease.
Every October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness month, Regis Corporation salons, stylists, guests and business partners come together during the company's annual Clip for the Cure campaign to raise money for breast cancer research. The campaign's highlight includes a daylong haircutting event where stylists at more than 7,000 corporate salons throughout the country give haircuts to over 225,000 guests, with a portion of proceeds going to The Regis Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. In addition, guests help raise funds by purchasing limited-edition "pink" products and donating to the cause throughout the campaign.

The Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota creates a collaborative research environment focused on the causes, prevention, detection and treatment of cancer; applying that knowledge to improve quality of life for patients and survivors; and sharing its discoveries with other scientists, students, professionals and the community. Founded in 1991, the cancer center became a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center in 1997, one of only 41 institutions in the United States and two in Minnesota to hold that designation.
