UCLA Anderson Sponsors Third Annual Stock Pitch Competition

Student teams from top MBA schools nationwide to compete for $12,500 in prizes

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- UCLA Anderson School of Management's Laurence and Lori Fink Center for Finance & Investments will host the 3rd Annual Fink Center Stock Pitch Competition, considered one of the premier MBA events in the investment management community, on Feb. 28, 2014. The competition brings students from leading MBA schools across the country interested in pursuing careers in investment research and asset management to California to showcase their talents in presenting their buy or sell recommendation on a particular stock before a panel of distinguished industry judges.

Teams will be judged on the quality of their analysis, the strength of their investment thesis, presentation skills and responsiveness to inquiries. Professionals from top finance firms will serve as judges, including: Iman H. Brivanlou with Trust Company of the West; Tim Davidson with HighMark Capital; Jim Edwards with UCLA Investment Company; Adam Epstein with MAZE Investments; Jason Hsu with Research Affiliates; Brad Kinkelaar with PIMCO; Brendt Stallings with DoubleLine Capital LP; and UCLA Anderson Associate Professor of Finance Mark Garmaise.

This year's team challengers hail from the nation's top business schools, including University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Columbia Business School, University of Virginia Darden School of Business, Duke University Fuqua School of Business, UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, Indiana University Kelley School of Business, University of Western Ontario Ivey School of Business, University of Michigan Ross School of Business, MIT Sloan School of Management, UCLA Anderson School of Management, University of Rochester Simon Graduate School of Business and USC Marshall School of Business.

In addition to giving students a preview of Wall Street's decision-making process, the event brings students within reach of the top investment management shops in the world, such as DoubleLine, PIMCO, Research Affiliates and TCW. The stock pitch was endowed in 2008 by Larry Fink, chairman and CEO of BlackRock, who currently serves as chairman of the Fink Center Board.

Rob Arnott, chairman and chief executive officer of Research Affiliates, will serve as keynote speaker at the event. During his 30-year career, he has earned a reputation as one of the world's most proactive practitioners and a respected financial analyst in his endeavors to bridge the worlds of academics theorists and financial markets.
