Courtyard New York Manhattan/Upper East Side Completes Major Lobby, Room Renovations

Intuitive lobby design features high-tech GoBoard 4.0, flexible work and social spaces and 24/7 food and beverage market

NEW YORK, March 4, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The 226-room Courtyard New York Manhattan/Upper East Side has completed a major renovation of its lobby and guest rooms.

The Upper East Side hotel now features the brand's intuitive "Refreshing Business" lobby concept where guests can enjoy open and flexible spaces. Media pods, complimentary Wi-Fi and a variety of seating zones help define the space that is now ideal for everything from pop-up meetings to social gatherings.

With the final touches of the transformation scheduled for spring 2014, the Upper East Side hotel will offer a comfortable and stylish room design. Thoughtfully planned, each room features plush bedding, a functional work space, spacious bathroom, separate seating area and complimentary in-room high-speed Internet. Providing a warm, sophisticated environment, the hotel's rooms accommodate guests' desire to stay connected, productive and refreshed during their stays.

"From day one, Courtyard has prided itself as a brand that listens to what travelers want from a hotel," said Janis Milham, vice president and global brand manager. "Guests want more control and choice with services and amenities that create a healthy balance between working and relaxing. The Courtyard lobby invites guests to get out of their rooms to work, socialize or be entertained, whether traveling alone or with colleagues."

The open, bright and contemporary Upper East Side hotel's lobby welcomes guests with vivid contrasting colors including blue, green, orange and red. The traditional front desk has been replaced by separate welcome pedestals to create more personal interactions during the check-in process and also allow staff members to show guests the lobby features and provide assistance. Adaptable seating options include a communal table in the middle of the action, private media booths with high-definition televisions and a more intimate, semi-enclosed lounge area.

Dining in the New York hotel has also been completely reimaged with the introduction of The Market, a 24/7 shop for snacks, beverages and sundries including the toothpaste guests may have forgotten to pack. Coffee lovers also will appreciate complimentary freshly brewed coffee.

A key component of the Upper East Side hotel's lobby is the newly enhanced GoBoard 4.0 which presents local information, maps, weather and headline news. Designed with today's busy traveler in mind, the award-winning GoBoard features mobile integration, enabling guests to send directions from the 55-inch LCD touch screen directly to their smart phones. Guests also have immediate access to detailed flight information for local airports, popular entertainment around the area and walking directions.

Throughout the hotel, guests can connect to complimentary Wi-Fi. Guests will appreciate ample electrical outlets in the lobby to power their digital devices. The business library features several computers along with a printer, while a separate Boarding Pass station is dedicated solely to printing airline boarding passes and checking flight statuses.

The Courtyard Manhattan/Upper East Side is under the leadership of General Manager Rob Rush and Director of Sales and Marketing Patricia Johnson.

Rush is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the hotel, including overseeing associates and ensuring guests experience excellence throughout their stays. Rush comes to the Upper East Side hotel with more than 18 years of experience in the hospitality industry.

Johnson will be responsible for providing sales support to the hotel's world-class team of professionals as well as to travelers and meeting planners visiting the area.

The New York hotel is owned by RLJ Lodging Trust and operated by Highgate Hotels L.P., under a franchise license agreement with a subsidiary of Marriott International Inc.
