Benjamin's Faithful Sidekick Bandit Nominated In "Hero Dog Awards"

DALLAS, March 10, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- American Dog Rescue founder Arthur E. Benjamin is accustomed to being the animal advocate and a hero in and around Palm Beach, Florida, Salt Lake City, Utah and Dallas, Texas, with hundreds of thousands in support of event sponsorships and contributions to hundreds of individual dogs in need. Over the last few years, however, Arthur has realized his trusty sidekick Bandit is the real hero.

"I've always loved dogs," Arthur says. "But it wasn't until some of my friends from paws4people and paws4vets explained the full details of the therapeutic value of a service dog that I considered training Bandit. He's helped me overcome many challenges, including repressed grief from my wife's passing in 2004."

Because of Bandit's heroism as a rescue, service dog and spokesdog for numerous dog charities, and accompanying Arthur on so many trips across the country, and much more, Bandit has been nominated in the American Humane Association's 2014 Hero Dog Awards.

If Bandit finishes in the top three of the "Emerging Hero Dog" category when the votes are tallied on June 6, 2014, he will proceed as a semi-finalist. If Bandit emerges as the grand prize winner, he will earn a $5,000 dog charity donation. American Dog Rescue supporters are encouraged to vote and ask their friends to do the same once each day through June 6th on the Hero Dog Awards website.
