NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 03/12/14 -- Piksel, a global provider of video monetization software and solutions, has announced key appointments to its product organization, strengthening the business for future growth and development.
"At Piksel, we have a vision for our customers to deploy customized video platforms quickly, cost effectively, and globally. These systems will harness the power of live video; allow for secure transmission of copyrighted material; implement storage with an eye toward cost, speed, and regulation; provide feedback and analytics to ensure profit and customer satisfaction; and do so instantly and to any location. While we don't believe there's a single shrink-wrapped solution that does this right now, we're focused on strengthening the tools and applications that can speed time to market and drive down deployment costs overall. These products and solutions include our core over-the-top (OTT) framework, Piksel 2Si for companion screen content, Piksel OVP, and our managed services business which underpins the performance of our customer deployments. The expansion of our global product team is a great enhancement to our ability to deliver on this vision," said Piksel's Chief Product Officer, Mark Portu.
Piksel would like to welcome Sean Everett and Paul Hodgson, who add depth to a team that includes Brian Benitez and Dan Bleeker, who joined in mid-2013:
- Brian Benitez, Senior Vice President of Product.
Brian is a web veteran with a career emphasis on complex media management and publishing applications. Brian was involved in the web's earliest efforts to deliver audio and video online including the Internet's first commercial website Wired Magazine's Hotwired. He has since led product teams in both consumer and enterprise software, most recently as vice president of product at Cinchcast. Brian will be focused on driving innovation within the product organization and is a graduate of University of California with a BA in English.
- Dan Bleeker, Senior Vice President of Software Development.
Dan is a serial entrepreneur with over 20 years of software industry experience across video, mobile, document, and knowledge management, voice recognition, and end-user application. In this role, Dan is tasked with coordinating product development, collaboration, and best practices across Piksel's global team. Previously Dan has worked as a consultant, served as senior vice president of product strategy and development for The FeedRoom and was a key founder in three companies: Curo Technology, TierTwo Systems, and TeamDirection. He has a bachelor and a masters degree in engineering from the University of California.
- Sean Everett, Product Manager - OVP.
Sean's fascination with technology began at 5 years old with an Apple IIe computer. Since then, his career has ranged from retail store management and consulting to Fortune 100 Boards to founding multiple startups. He's built many apps including one that saved a life from suicide and created an emotion-sensing, artificially intelligent friend named Kiiy. Sean's focus will be driving significant feature enhancements for Piksel OVP, including adding a digital signage application to the suite. Sean is a math graduate of the University of Iowa and a business graduate of the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business.
- Paul Hodgson, Product Manager - Piksel Services
Paul has a lengthy background working with Tier 1 broadcast and media clients, in particular with the delivery of some of the first to market video solutions for BSkyB, Channel 4, ITV and Foxtel.
