Canadian International Trade Tribunal Does Not Initiate Expiry Review: Mattress Innerspring Units from China

OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 03/12/14 -- The Canadian International Trade Tribunal today decided not to initiate an expiry review of its finding made on November 24, 2009, concerning mattress innerspring units, originating in or exported from the People's Republic of China.

The Tribunal will issue the reasons for its order on March 27, 2014.

The Tribunal was not satisfied that an expiry review was warranted. Therefore, the finding will expire on November 23, 2014, and, after that date, the Canada Border Services Agency will no longer impose anti-dumping duties.

The Tribunal is an independent quasi-judicial body that reports to Parliament through the Minister of Finance. It hears cases on dumped and subsidized imports, safeguard complaints, complaints about federal government procurement and appeals of customs and excise tax rulings. When requested by the federal government, the Tribunal also provides advice on other economic, trade and tariff matters.
