SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 03/12/14 -- Inside Media, a communications and consulting firm in San Diego, California, winner of (7) Edward R Murrow awards including the 2004 National award for writing, pioneered a new look at the Affordable Care Act in 2013. Partnering with Strategic Global Investments, Inc., they have co-produced a comprehensive series of informational videos that offered a greater understanding of the health care legislation commonly known as "Obama Care." Today, Inside Media is addressing the controversial debate surrounding US immigration.
Inside Media President Chip Franklin, whose commentary on the political landscape has made him a regular on The O'Reilly Factor, CNN, CNBC, The Situation Room, is proud of the company's relationship with attorney and author Vaughan de Kirby (www.dekirby.net). De Kirby believes passionately in the plight of the U.S. immigrant. The author of "The Investor's Path to a Green Card," de Kirby rejects the current spin on immigrants coming to the U.S. to 'take jobs." His focus is attracting immigrants that are coming to the US to "create" employment opportunities for Americans. Vaughan de Kirby's book chronicles a little known, yet 20 year-old law designed to stimulate economic growth called an EB-5 visa.
Whether it's the political turbulence in the Ukraine, or the Malaysia Airlines flight that mysteriously fell from the sky, it's not hard to understand why so many people still head to our shores. But that great demand is creating a political maelstrom that cannot be ignored.
Immigration is no longer seen as a pool from which we grow the best and brightest. To the contrary, politicians and activists attack our current immigration policies as lax and a threat to America. It is however, not without some irony that many of our greatest achievements were, in fact, built on the backs of immigrants. Railroads, bridges and dams solidified the infrastructure of an emerging nation. And our strength and prosperity are not only tied to these efforts, but would have never been realized without the men and women who came here searching for a better life. Recently however, immigration has become a synonym for opportunism; those seeking to steal a piece of the American dream. And since September 11th, 2001, the battle has spilled over into the surreal. The plight of the US immigrant, once the bedrock of this great nation, has been transformed into a political pejorative.
For the past 50 years here in California, the popular refrain was that immigrants are doing jobs that Americans refuse to perform. And with unemployment rates stubbornly refusing to return to pre-recession levels, the backlash against immigration is centering on the availability of employment, supposedly even low wage jobs traditionally held by first generation Americans. And that's where Vaughan de Kirby enters the story.
Described in great detail An EB-5 visa offers the opportunity to obtain a U.S. Green Card by investing in American businesses. Created by Congress to stimulate the U.S. economy through job creation and capital investment by foreign investors, EB-5 was created in 1990, enacted in 1992 and has been regularly reauthorized since.
An EB-5 visa makes it possible to obtain a Green Card for an individual and his entire family by making an investment of $500,000 in an approved, new commercial enterprise. The investment must also result in the creation of jobs. de Kirby is proud of his firm's success, but even more so of his clients dogged determination to participate in the American experience. "My clients are here because they have worked very hard and intelligently to place themselves and their family in the financial position to make an EB-5 investment. Their work ethic and intelligence requires that if they make this investment they want to know that it offers the immigration benefits bargained for."
Each year, 10,000 EB-5 visas become available to foreign investors looking to immigrate to the US. The amount needed to invest often depends on factors such as location, unemployment rates, and agricultural considerations. But de Kirby is excited by the opportunities not only for his clients, but our nation as well.

We are reaching the end of the beginning with WebRTC, and real systems using this technology have begun to appear. One challenge that faces every WebRTC deployment (in some form or another) is identity management. For example, if you have an existing service – possibly built on a variety of different PaaS/SaaS offerings – and you want to add real-time communications you are faced with a challenge relating to user management, authentication, authorization, and validation. Service providers will w...

The Internet of Things is tied together with a thin strand that is known as time. Coincidentally, at the core of nearly all data analytics is a timestamp. When working with time series data there are a few core principles that everyone should consider, especially across datasets where time is the common boundary. In his session at Internet of @ThingsExpo, Jim Scott, Director of Enterprise Strategy & Architecture at MapR Technologies, discussed single-value, geo-spatial, and log time series dat...

How do APIs and IoT relate? The answer is not as simple as merely adding an API on top of a dumb device, but rather about understanding the architectural patterns for implementing an IoT fabric. There are typically two or three trends: Exposing the device to a management framework Exposing that management framework to a business centric logic Exposing that business layer and data to end users. This last trend is the IoT stack, which involves a new shift in the separation of what stuff happe...
