Drool, Britannia? Is the UK Failing the Cloud?
By Roger Strukhoff
Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Accept Software Boosts Quality of Product Decision Making for the Mid-Market
Five Early-Stage Software Vendors Adopt the First On-Demand Requirements Management Application

By: PR Newswire
Nov. 15, 2006 11:00 AM

FREMONT, Calif., Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Accept Software Corporation(TM) today announced five more early-stage software companies have subscribed to Accept 360(TM), the industry's first on-demand, hosted requirements management application. Informiam, Navio Systems, PointServe, Purisma, and Tumbleweed Communications -- all with product management/product marketing teams ranging from 5 to 10 people -- have deployed Accept 360 to capture, consolidate, and manage their market and product requirements. Regardless of the size of the organization, Accept 360 collects all requirements in one place, eliminating inefficiencies caused by individuals storing and managing information in separate spreadsheets, documents, presentations, and e-mail. Accept 360 links every requirement to the rich context of customers, competitors, and markets into a holistic view to enable companies to define, develop, and deliver the best possible products and product strategies.

"Over the past two and a half years, two-thirds of our Accept 360 customers have experienced the benefits of a truly hosted, easy-to-deploy, on-demand offering," said James Davies, CEO, Accept Software. "The return on investment from a rich product planning and requirements management application is dramatic. With Accept 360, there's no need for lengthy training or a long services project. Our mid-market customers measure their time-to-value in days rather than the weeks or months necessary with other requirements management solutions."

"Viewing our products across all functional groups within the company will help us to keep our customer and business needs, wants and desires at the center of our product efforts," said Joseph Fisher, vice president, product management, Tumbleweed Communications. "Accept 360 will save us time, but more importantly, the insight and knowledge Accept 360 enables will help to optimize our future product planning."

Making the Most with Scarce Resources

Without a rich requirements management application, product managers report they spend between 20 and 40 percent of their work time locating and validating the most up-to-date documents, while suggestions and requirements stack up by the hundreds in e-mail. Accept 360 users have eliminated this wasted time by moving requirements from spreadsheets and tables into a central repository. Interactive "what if" scenarios are much easier to create and requirements documents can be generated on the fly as up-to-the-minute reports from the application, enabling a whole new level of accurate product decision-making and release planning.

"Accept 360 enables us to manage our product requirements effectively, by ensuring company-wide visibility into critical release schedules and planning elements so that we can best serve our customers. The product is more powerful and more flexible than any of the alternatives we evaluated, and we were able to get up the learning curve with a minimum of effort and time," said Eric Kintzer, vice president of product management at Navio. "We're continually expanding and evolving our product to meet our customers' needs, and we were looking for a system that could keep up with our growth."

Accept 360 Availability

Accept 360 is available as either on-demand or on-premise behind a customer's firewall. Customers can begin using the on-demand version for as little as $100 per user per month. Accept is highly configurable regardless of the size of the organization and the complexity of its products or markets -- so new hosted, on-demand customers can be fully productive in the Accept 360 in a matter of days.
