Media Advisory: Final Troops Return After the End of Military Operations in Afghanistan

OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 03/17/14 -- Department of National Defence -

The final flight returning remaining Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) personnel deployed to Afghanistan will be returning to Canada tomorrow, after the end of major military operations for Canada in Afghanistan.


What:   His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General
        of Canada, the Right Honourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister, the
        Honourable Rob Nicholson, Minister of National Defence and General
        Tom Lawson, Chief of the Defence Staff, will welcome the troops
        returning from Afghanistan.

When:   Tuesday, March 18, 2014. The flight is expected at approximately 9
        a.m.

Where:  Canada Reception Centre (at the Ottawa MacDonald-Cartier
        International Airport)
        Hangar 11
        190 Convair Private
        Ottawa

Notes to editor / news director: Media representatives are required to arrive no later than 8 a.m. (EST) and have valid media accreditation. Media will be offered the opportunity to interview returning members of the CAF.
