TIE Kinetix Receives ISO 27001:2013 Certification for Information Security Management

BURLINGTON, MA -- (Marketwired) -- 03/18/14 -- TIE Kinetix, (NYSE Euronext: TIE), a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) provider of E-Commerce and Channel Marketing solutions, today announced that the organization is the first cloud-based E-Commerce solution provider to be awarded ISO 27001:2013 certification for information security management. The certification confirms that all sensitive customer and partner information is secured and managed at the highest level.

ISO 27001:2013 certification means that TIE Kinetix has been independently verified and awarded the only internationally recognized and most prestigious information security standard available. Additionally, by implementing the latest 2013 version, TIE Kinetix's Information Security Management System (ISMS) is compliant with the latest best practices, controls and industry standards.

Protecting information is a top priority for companies in the modern connected world, especially in regards to securing high volumes of sensitive online information. When businesses and consumers are managing and transmitting private data over the Internet, there are enormous potential consequences if it is not handled properly. Ensuring the safety of that data is integral for the protection of the company, its customers and its partners.

Jan Sundelin, CEO of TIE Kinetix, said: "In the past few years several large companies have dealt with major intrusions and/or hacks of their software or infrastructure that have resulted in the loss or exposure of sensitive customer information. Preventing similar instances and ensuring the safety of all sensitive customer and partner data is a top priority for TIE Kinetix, and we have taken proactive actions to ensure that information is managed and stored securely so that our partners and customers can have complete confidence in the safety of the information they share with us. Gaining ISO 27001: 2013 certification allows us to deliver a unique level of security for our customers that the majority of competitors cannot offer at this time."

The ISO 27001:2013 was certified by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance of Rotterdam and the process required TIE Kinetix to:

  • Thoroughly evaluate its own information security risks, including the impact of identified threats and vulnerabilities
  • Design and implement a comprehensive set of information security controls and other risk management measures to address security risks within its own cloud infrastructure as well as its corporate environment
  • Implement an overarching program to ensure that the information security controls meet the information security needs for both TIE Kinetix and its customers on an ongoing basis

As enterprises look to take advantage of the cloud, they need to understand the importance of safeguarding their confidential and sensitive data in cloud environments. Enterprises must protect their data from (i) system administrators who don't need to see the data in the clear and (ii) adversaries who become system administrators from stolen credentials. In short, enterprises must take control of their data: The best way to do this is by using advanced encryption, centralized key management and...

For better or worse, DevOps has gone mainstream. All doubt was removed when IBM and HP threw up their respective DevOps microsites. Where are we on the hype cycle? It's hard to say for sure but there's a feeling we're heading for the "Peak of Inflated Expectations." What does this mean for the enterprise? Should they avoid DevOps? Definitely not. Should they be cautious though? Absolutely. The truth is that DevOps and the enterprise are at best strange bedfellows. The movement has its roots in t...
The true value of the Internet of Things (IoT) lies not just in the data, but through the services that protect the data, perform the analysis and present findings in a usable way. With many IoT elements rooted in traditional IT components, Big Data and IoT isn’t just a play for enterprise. In fact, the IoT presents SMBs with the prospect of launching entirely new activities and exploring innovative areas. CompTIA research identifies several areas where IoT is expected to have the greatest impac...

Some developers believe that monitoring is a function of the operations team. Some operations teams firmly believe that monitoring the systems they maintain is sufficient to run the business successfully. Most of them are wrong. The complexity of today's applications have gone far and beyond the capabilities of "traditional" system-level monitoring tools and approaches and requires much broader knowledge of business and applications as a whole. The goal of DevOps is to connect all aspects of app...
DevOps is the hottest moving target when it comes to software development methodologies. Many people fear that this fast-paced, barrier-breaking movement will leave information security best practices in the dust. Analysts provide recommendations to security professionals using bingo-laden terms like "moving security to the left" or "get a seat at the table." What we need are real-world examples and tactics for security practitioners to be part of DevOps. In his session at DevOps Summit, Andrew...

DevOps is all about agility. However, you don't want to be on a high-speed bus to nowhere. The right DevOps approach controls velocity with a tight feedback loop that not only consists of operational data but also incorporates business context.
