Community Health Plan of Washington (CHPW), a not-for-profit health plan offering a variety of Medicare and Medicaid coverage options to approximately 300,000 Washington State residents, has selected Dell Services and ikaSystems to position the plan to grow in response to federal healthcare reform initiatives.
Under the agreement, Dell, with ikaSystems’ support, will implement the ikaSystems administrative platform on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, including the following modules: ikaClaims, ikaEnterpriseService, ikaMedicareGateway, ikaBilling, Provider Portal and Member Portal. Dell will also provide business process outsourcing and IT services that include data entry, mailroom services, claims processing, configuration services, and premium billing. The services and solutions will streamline CHPW’s administrative processes for its Medicaid and Medicare lines of business, enabling the plan to effectively grow its membership and lower operational costs. The scalability and flexibility of the solution also will position CHPW for success as the post-reform market evolves.
Dell is the leading provider of healthcare information technology services globally, based on a recent Gartner report.1 The ranking, which is based on 2012 revenue, marks the third consecutive year Dell has achieved the No. 1 ranking for healthcare services. In addition, Everest Group has positioned Dell’s healthcare IT services in the Leader category for Healthcare Payer IT and as a market Star Performer for Payer Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO) on the PEAK Matrix.2
Dell works with health plans representing approximately 100 health insurance organizations. On an annual basis, the company processes more than 96 million claims, handles more than 1.3 million enrollment transactions and manages call centers that receive more than 11 million calls per year for these customers.
“We are excited to continue our partnership with Dell,” Alan Lederman, Chief Administrative Officer, CHPW, stated. “We selected the Dell/ikaSystems team because of the advanced technology that we believe will provide a stable platform that will dramatically enhance both member and provider experience while driving lower overall cost of operations through improved efficiency.”
“A flexible, scalable business platform and IT infrastructure are critical for health plans to be successful in today’s more competitive consumer-focused marketplace,” said Sid Nair, Dell Services vice president and global general manager, Healthcare & Life Sciences. “Dell is pleased to be working with CHPW as they expand into new lines of business and work to meet short-term challenges, such as the upcoming ICD-10 compliance deadline.”
“As the regulatory landscape in healthcare becomes more complex, health plans are looking to adopt innovative and flexible solutions that drive operational efficiencies and provide agility that enable them to create, protect, and extend their competitive advantage,” said Joe Marabito, CEO, ikaSystems. “We’re looking forward to supporting the CHPW team as they work to meet evolving business needs and achieve their goals.”
