Bitnami Launchpad Offers Rapid Deployment Console for Windows Azure

Users Gain Access to More than 80 Free Applications and Developer Stacks for the Microsoft Cloud Platform with Only a Few Clicks

SAN FRANCISCO, March 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Bitnami, a library of popular server applications and development environments that can be installed with one click, today announced the Bitnami Launchpad for Windows Azure, a free deployment console that helps make it easy to deploy more server applications to the Windows Azure cloud. With the Bitnami Launchpad for Windows Azure, IT operations, developers and even business users can deploy any of the more than 80 popular applications and developer stacks in the Bitnami library in mere minutes with a few clicks. Bitnami also launched an online resource center that includes tutorials and other useful resources aimed at improving the Azure cloud deployment user experience.

The Bitnami Launchpad for Windows Azure is a free offering that is compatible with the entire Bitnami library, which includes popular server applications such as Alfresco, DreamFactory, Drupal, Ghost, JasperReports, Joomla, Liferay, Magento, Moodle, PrestaShop, Redmine, SugarCRM and WordPress, and popular developer tools and stacks such as Apache Solr, Django, Gitlab, Jenkins, JBoss, LAMP, Node.js, Ruby on Rails, Tomcast, WAMP and XAMPP. With the Bitnami Launchpad for Windows Azure, users can deploy applications to the server size of their choice within any Windows Azure region, and start, stop and delete servers with only a few clicks.

"It's clear that the cloud in general is becoming a highly desirable deployment environment for organizations of all sizes," said Daniel Lopez, co-founder and CEO of Bitnami. "Bitnami is in the business of transforming the way that applications are deployed and managed in the cloud and everywhere else. Our goal has always been to deliver an awesome user experience for anyone that deploys applications and developer stacks to the cloud and we have achieved that goal with the release of the Bitnami Launchpad for Windows Azure."

"Bitnami has been an important part of the Windows Azure ecosystem, delivering an exceptional user experience for organizations deploying popular applications to Windows Azure Infrastructure Services through VM Depot, the catalog of open source images for Windows Azure, " said Gianugo Rabellino, senior director of open source communities at Microsoft Open Technologies, Inc. "Since Bitnami partnered with Windows Azure, they have helped hundreds of organizations deploy applications and accounted for significant increases in Windows Azure compute hours each and every month."
