Mid-Michigan Oncology Radiation Associates Selects Iridium Suite Practice Management System

RENO, NV -- (Marketwired) -- 03/19/14 -- Locally owned Medical Business Systems announced today that Mid-Michigan Oncology Radiation Associates (MMORA) of East Lansing has selected Iridium Suite as its cloud-based medical billing system.

Mid-Michigan Oncology Radiation Associates, consisting of Doctors Herman and DiCarlo, has been serving the Greater Lancing Area's radiation oncology needs at Sparrow Hospital for 30 years.

Previously MMORA utilized a billing service to bill their medical claims, but recently made the decision to bring their billing in-house. When asked why his radiation oncology practice selected Iridium Suite, James Herman of MMORA replied, "The choice to go with Iridium Suite was easy, no other billing program, that we reviewed before buying, offered such an easy-to-use, user-friendly interface, and practice specific customization."

Additionally, MMORA will benefit from Iridium Suite's preparedness for the upcoming ICD-10 requirements which take effect on October 1, 2014. Iridium Suite is already ICD-10 compliant, well in advance of the government-mandated deadline.

ICD-10 increases the number of alpha-numeric characters found in a patient's diagnosis code from the current 5 digits to 7 digits. This will result in the creation of more than 50,000 additional diagnostic codes when compared with today's ICD-9 standard.

The new criteria also allow the medical biller to enter 12 unique diagnosis codes per patient medical claim which is an increase from the current format of only four. This allows the biller to code all the associated medical conditions for patients as required. Iridium Suite accommodates the inclusion of 12 diagnostic codes per claim and also enables the medical biller to "order" the diagnosis codes appropriately based on the patient's specifics. The ordering of diagnostic codes is also a requirement of the ICD-10 standard.

Lastly, MMORA can utilize Iridium Suite's built-in ICD-9 to ICD-10 crosswalk function. Michelle Ludwig from Medical Business Systems' Support team says, "It practically holds the user's hand as it walks the biller through the conversion from the old, comfortable ICD-9 codes into the new, and slightly intimidating ICD-10 codes."

With Iridium Suite's compliant ICD-10 Billing Software functionality and other advanced medical billing functions, the system is the optimum choice to keep your practice up-to-date in the ever-changing world of medical practice management.
