The Toronto Fashion Incubator (TFI) has teamed up with fashion icon and host of Bell Media's FashionTelevisionChannel, Jeanne Beker, to bring her notoriety to the stage at TFI New Labels® 2014 as the event's official emcee. On May 5, 2014 at the chic One King West, four emerging Canadian designers will compete in the competition and runway show for the chance to receive a $25,000 cash prize for Most Promising New Label presented by Suzanne Rogers.
"I'm delighted to lend my support to the Canadian fashion industry by hosting this year's TFI New Labels," said Jeanne Beker. "The TFI is an essential organization in helping bring our nation's design talents to the forefront of the industry."
TFI New Labels® is a highly regarded, national design competition and runway show that has jump-started the careers of many Canadian designers since its inception in 1992, including Joeffer Caoc, Golnaz Ashtiani, Sid Neigum and most recently, Sarah Stevenson. The final four emerging designers who will showcase their collections at TFI New Labels® 2014 will be announced beginning of April, as selected by an expert panel of judges. This year's panel includes co-founder of TNT, Arie Assaraf, fashion director at FLARE Magazine Tiyana Grulovic, noted fashion designer David Dixon and philanthropist Suzanne Rogers.
"TFI New Labels® is the ideal stage for new Canadian talent to showcase their designs to industry tastemakers, buyers, editors and fashionistas alike," said Susan Langdon, Executive Director, TFI. "New Labels is the TFI's longest standing event, and has seen incredible designers go on to have great success."
In addition to the $25,000 cash prize for Most Promising New Label presented by Suzanne Rogers, the winning designer will receive an exclusive editorial in FLARE Magazine and production of a look book for the winning collection provided by beauty partners COVERGIRL and Pantene. For the seventh consecutive year, COVERGIRL and Pantene will also provide all make-up and hair products used to create the runway-ready beauty looks, inspired by the finalists' collections.
Net ticket sale proceeds from the fashion show will benefit the TFI, a non-profit, community-based, small business centre that provides critical support to fashion entrepreneurs.
