Drool, Britannia? Is the UK Failing the Cloud?
By Roger Strukhoff
Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Wireless Matrix Releases Business Support Network Version 4.0
Wireless Matrix Releases Business Support Network Version 4.0

By: Marketwire .
Nov. 16, 2006 03:04 PM

RESTON, VIRGINIA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 11/16/06 -- Wireless Matrix Corporation (TSX: WRX) today released the latest version of its Business Support Network (BSN), a web-based tool for administering the full line of Wireless Matrix communications hardware including Mobile Base Station 2, the Terrestrial Mobile Base Station, the Vehicle Telematics Communication Unit and the SDT-5000.

BSN v4.0 allows users to activate/deactivate units and perform first-level troubleshooting of their communication equipment, manage and review communication usage, and report on unit operations. BSN v4.0 allows the user direct management, oversight and control of how their Wireless Matrix hardware is utilized in their fleet. These capabilities make Wireless Matrix's BSN tool a unique offering among companies that currently provide Mobile Resource Management solutions.

Release 4.0 adds dynamic new features including modem and interface status, last Communication time and network used, last known location, GPS query and map plot, and extended reporting.

"The Business Support Network drives down the total cost of ownership," said Mike Jakab, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Wireless Matrix. "Many companies, especially in first time deployments of wireless data communications, don't anticipate the need for managing activities post-deployment. The BSN provides system users access to automation tools and reporting features that minimize labor and expenses required to support system deployments," added Mr. Jakab.

Access to the web-based Business Support Network system is included as a standard service in Wireless Matrix's Mobile Workforce Management solution. Version 4.0 is available for all registered users via the Wireless Matrix website home page at www.wirelessmatrixcorp.com.
