LONDON, March 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Acclaimed French guitarist and composer Bernard Margarit arrived this week to rehearse with young Raw Material artists on new work to be performed at the huge international Carcassonne music festival in the south of France in July.
Margarit will be working with DJ, producer and bass player Wu-Lu, drummer Mike Kathak Strocchi, vocalist Floetic Lara and rapper Potent Whisper. The Raw crew will be heading down there in April for a preliminary event and then in July for festival performances on 10th July. Festival de Carcassonne has a big line-up across five stages with artists from all over the world including Franz Ferdinand, Elton John, Massive Attack, Madness, Jackson Five and James Blunt and will attended by around 100,000 people.
Sudan - Following the workshops and event at the National Museum in Khartoum, Raw Material are planning new projects with the British Council later in 2014 to engage with local young people in learning about and producing music, and introducing some new technology in the process. Our DJ producer Wu-Lu and rapper MC Potent Whisper have laid down the foundations for a productive relationship and will grow. The British Council in Khartoum are pleased with the results so far and see this as an important cultural collaboration.
Australia - We are starting to plan for a second Australian Raw Roads tour to work with the indigenous communities in the Northern Territory in September.
Senegal - Raw Material are once again representing the UK at FETSA2H, the international hip hop festival in Dakar, June 4-8. Newly signed rapper Knytro and DJ Wu-Lu will be performing over 4 days at several large scale events across the capital.
