HOUSTON, March 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The intellectual property boutique firm Sutton McAughan Deaver PLLC (www.smd-iplaw.com) is proud to announce that partner Jeff Andrews has been selected to the Texas Rising Stars listing of the state's top up-and-coming attorneys for a second consecutive year.
Mr. Andrews was recognized in the annual listing for his work in intellectual property litigation. He received his J.D. from the University of Houston in 2005; he also holds a Ph.D. from Duke, a master's from Yale, and undergraduate degrees from the University of Rochester. Mr. Andrews represents clients in litigation and dispute resolution as well as IP counseling in a variety of industries and technologies, ranging from oil and gas exploration and production to power electronics to industrial processes.
"We are very proud that Jeff has been selected as a Texas Rising Star," said name partner Mike Sutton. "This recognition is indicative of the high caliber of our attorneys and the high standard of representation our firm provides to clients."
In order to compile the Texas Rising Stars list, researchers with Thomson Reuters' legal division solicit nominations each year from attorneys across Texas, asking them to identify the best lawyers age 40 or younger, and those who have been practicing for no more than 10 years. Only 2.5 percent of all eligible Texas lawyers earn the Texas Rising Stars distinction each year.

Sutton McAughan Deaver PLLC is a premier intellectual property boutique focusing exclusively on IP litigation and strategic counseling in a fee sensitive environment. SMD's five partners have more than 100 years of combined experience handling complex IP matters in the courts and in arbitration proceedings, as well as identifying and cultivating IP rights in a variety of industries and technologies. Having managed and practiced in the IP sections at leading AmLaw 100 firms, SMD's partners formed the firm because they were convinced that a smaller, more focused platform dedicated to IP law could provide more effective, more efficient, higher quality representation than available in a traditional law firm model. SMD has been named a top IP law firm in Texas by Chambers USA and as a Go-To Law Firm for the Top 500 Companies by Corporate Counsel magazine. The firm has also been recognized nationally for IP litigation—and ranked Tier 1 in Houston for multiple practice areas—by U.S. News – Best Lawyers "Best Law Firms."
