Office of the Comptroller of the Currency Hosts Baltimore Workshop for New and Experienced Bank Directors

WASHINGTON, March 21, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency will host a workshop in Baltimore at the Embassy Suites Baltimore-Inner Harbor, April 28-30, for directors of national community banks and federal savings associations.

"Mastering the Basics: A Director's Challenge" is a three-day workshop designed exclusively for directors of institutions supervised by the OCC and provides practical information on the roles and responsibilities of a community bank director.  Taught by seasoned OCC supervision staff, the workshop focuses on directors' duties and core responsibilities, the regulatory environment, board reports, bank ratings, and managing board information.

"The workshop is beneficial for both new and long-time bank directors," said Ben Rudolph, Assistant Deputy Comptroller in the Minneapolis office.  "New directors learn about their roles and responsibilities, how it differs from those of bank management, and what's required to be effective at their jobs.  More experienced bank directors learn a lot from the different perspectives shared during the workshop and the dialogue amongst the group, including best practices and industry hot topics."

The workshop fee is $99.  Participants receive a pre-workshop reading package and course materials, assorted supervisory publications, and a Dictionary of Banking Terms.  The workshop is limited to the first 35 registrants.

The workshop is one of 33 being offered nationwide to enhance and expand the skills of national community bank and federal savings association directors.  For information, including a complete list of available workshops, or to register for a workshop, visit http://www.seiservices.com/occ or call (240) 485-1700.
