New Early Childhood Director at The Source for Learning

Alan Guttman Brings Extensive Experience to Role

RESTON, Va., March 24, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Alan Guttman is the new Director of Early Childhood Initiatives at The Source for Learning (SFL), a not-for-profit educational technologies corporation based in Reston, Virginia. He was most recently Director of Educare DC, an early care and education school serving  children 6 weeks to 5 years old and their families in the District's Ward 7. Prior to that, he worked with the Maryland State Department of Education on the development and revising of Maryland's Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS).

Mr. Guttman will be responsible for SFL's early childhood programs, including PreschoolFirst (, SFL's online assessment and curriculum resource for early childhood and PreK programs. His career experience includes more than 25 years spent working with early childhood programs, including 18 years leading and supporting Head Start programs. His expertise includes curriculum and assessment, development and implementation of quality rating systems, management of early childhood programs, and initiatives to involve families in their children's education.

Mr. Guttman holds an M.A. in early childhood education from New York University, and he is a Fellow of the Head Start/Johnson & Johnson Management Fellows Program at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. He holds teaching certificates in both New York and California.
