Ubisense Series 9000 System Receives Japanese Certification

CAMBRIDGE, England, March 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

Ubisense plc ("Ubisense" or the "Company") (LSE:UBI), market leader in real-time location intelligence solutions, is pleased to announce that its Series 9000 equipment has passed UWB radio type approvals in Japan which enables the sale of these products into the Japanese market.

Wireless equipment to be used in Japan must be approved by assigned certification bodies according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC). The MIC rules were changed in January of this year to accommodate UWB location tracking systems.

The Ubisense Series 9000 equipment was already certified and approved for use in Korea and is now the first location system to take advantage of the new Japanese rules.

Ubisense Series 9000 equipment works with the same Smart Factory software used in mission-critical applications in Ubisense's other worldwide installations and the newly certified hardware consists of:

  • Series 9000 Sensors, which track UWB signals from the modules to allow them to be located in 3D to within 15cm.
  • Ubisense Series 9000 Industrial tags, which are rugged tags with a long battery life, suitable for tracking a range of objects in difficult industrial environments.
  • Ubisense Series 9000 Tool tags, which are a compact yet robust tag for tracking tools on production lines.
  • Ubisense Series 9000 Trimode tags, which combine UWB for precision in-building tracking and a GPS module for outdoor tracking.
  • The Series 9000 Tag Module, a compact, self-contained, pre-certified module which can be incorporated into any third-party host device.

Terry Phebey, VP Marketing of Ubisense said: "MIC have carefully studied the spectrum management issues over the last two years and have introduced regulations which allow use of UWB for high-accuracy indoor location by industry, whilst ensuring protection of existing users of the radio spectrum. This compliments very nicely our acquisition of Geoplan Interworks K.K. last December. We now have a strong local team and certified products to focus on the very large Japanese manufacturing market, in particular the automotive manufacturers."

We’ve seen multiple visionary, sector-leading companies select Datical DB to drive their Application Schema changes. Now that the number has grown rapidly over the past year, we can begin to see patterns in why customers choose Datical DB. One of them turns out to be pretty emblematic of our other customers. So, let's examine the reasons why they chose to adopt Datical DB.
"People are a lot more knowledgeable about APIs now. There are two types of people who work with APIs - IT people who want to use APIs for something internal and the product managers who want to do something outside APIs for people to connect to them," explained Roberto Medrano, Executive Vice President at SOA Software, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at Cloud Expo, held Nov 4–6, 2014, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.
In this demo at 15th Cloud Expo, John Meza, Product Engineer at Esri, showed how Esri products hook into Hadoop cluster to allow you to do spatial analysis on the spatial data within your cluster, and he demonstrated rendering from a data center with ArcGIS Pro, a new product that has a brand new rendering engine.
"Blue Box has been around for 10-11 years, and last year we launched Blue Box Cloud. The Software Defined Data Center (SDDC), which enables organizations to seamlessly run in a hybrid cloud model (public + private cloud), is here to stay. IDC estimates that the software-defined networking market will be valued at $3.7 billion by 2016. Security is a key component and benefit of the SDDC, and offers an opportunity to build security 'from the ground up' and weave it into the environment from day one. In his session at 16th Cloud Expo, Reuven Harrison, CTO and Co-Founder of Tufin,...
Hardware will never be more valuable than on the day it hits your loading dock. Each day new servers are not deployed to production the business is losing money. While Moore's Law is typically cited to explain the exponential density growth of chips, a critical consequence of this is rapid depreciation of servers. The hardware for clustered systems (e.g., Hadoop, OpenStack) tends to be significant capital expenses. In his session at Big Data Expo, Mason Katz, CTO and co-founder of StackIQ, disc...
The move in recent years to cloud computing services and architectures has added significant pace to the application development and deployment environment. When enterprise IT can spin up large computing instances in just minutes, developers can also design and deploy in small time frames that were unimaginable a few years ago. The consequent move toward lean, agile, and fast development leads to the need for the development and operations sides to work very closely together. Thus, DevOps become...
