Wilcox Sessions has joined forces with Myspace to produce a full season of the live music video series, premiering with dance-punk duo De Lux today. One part raucous live performance, and one part high-concept video, Wilcox Sessions brings a twist to the traditional music video format. The season one launch kicks off a 12-episode weekly series, which will live and be promoted on Myspace, exposing a new breed of emerging artists, including Lydia Loveless, Sir Sly and The Belle Brigade.
"The passion Chris and Menaka have put into Wilcox Sessions is evident from the vibrant, creative work that has come out of it," said Joseph Patel, vice president of content and creative at Myspace. "It's their passion for music, eccentric personalities, and making what are essentially live music videos. We wanted to give them a supportive platform to grow their audience."
Created by Los Angeles-based couple Chris Litten and Menaka Gopinath, Wilcox Sessions began in 2010 when the pair started inviting musicians into their Hollywood living room on Wilcox Avenue to play private performances—with the cameras rolling. Four years later, more than 40 bands have played the Hollywood hideaway, including Moby, Fitz and the Tantrums, and Hanni El Khatib. Today, the sessions have expanded beyond their living room origins, to be shot at various locations across LA. With Wilcox Sessions teaming up with Myspace, one of the LA music scene’s best-kept secrets is now available to millions of music lovers everywhere.
"What started as a passion project for Chris and I has evolved into us moving well beyond our living room, and we are loving it,” said Menaka Gopinath, Producer, Wilcox Sessions. “It is great to have Myspace supporting projects like ours and helping to get emerging artists more exposure."
With an organic rock and roll cocktail party vibe, each session captures a unique video concept led creatively by the artists in collaboration with the Wilcox team. New episodes will premiere weekly each Wednesday beginning today through June 11, 2014.
