Olga's Kitchen Gives Guests A Taste Of The Past With "Throwback Thursdays"

Customers can expect special retro prices and lots of old school fun

TROY, Mich., April 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Olga's Kitchen is turning back the clock. Now through May 1, 2014, every Thursday will be a Throwback Thursday at the popular, Detroit-based restaurants.

Just like the social media trend it was named after, Olga's "Throwback Thursdays" will take its guests back to simpler times with classic menu items at "throwback" prices from specific years. In addition to the values, every Throwback Thursday will give people a chance to live in the past through the environment and vibe created at each restaurant. The years that will be celebrated are as follows:

  • April 3 – 2007
  • April 10 – 1989
  • April 17 – 2006
  • April 24 – 1981
  • May 1 – 1995

All 36 Olga's restaurant locations will be participating in the fun. One location each week will also be transformed to look and feel like a restaurant from the year that is being highlighted. In addition to this walk down memory lane, "Throwback Thursdays" will also be a chance for guests to meet the restaurant's namesake and founder, Olga Loizon.

When Ms. Loizon visits one of the Olga's locations, the day becomes an event for both staff and fans alike. These visits give people a chance to meet the woman behind the secret-recipe Olga Bread that were such a big part of childhood memories, foodie transformations and the fanaticism of today's next generation of Olga Lovers.

As much as the fans enjoy meeting her, Ms. Loizon gets an even bigger thrill from these appearances. "The pleasure of meeting a family with three generations of Olga Lovers renders me speechless and on the edge of tears because I'm so happy they like my Olga Bread!"

Ms. Loizon will be appearing on these days at these Olga's restaurants:

  • April 3Brighton
  • April 10Canton
  • April 17Royal Oak
  • April 24Dearborn Heights
  • May 1 – Twelve Oaks Mall (Novi)
