ShoreTel Selects Global Data Center Services Provider CyrusOne for Colocation Services

Global data center services provider CyrusOne (NASDAQ: CONE) is pleased to announce it is providing colocation services to ShoreTel® (NASDAQ: SHOR), the leading provider of brilliantly simple phone systems and unified communications (UC) solutions. ShoreTel is using CyrusOne’s Carrollton facility near Dallas.

CyrusOne's 670,000-square-foot data center in Dallas/Carrollton is the largest facility of its kind in the state and one of the most energy-efficient in the United States.

“We are in the business of mitigating risk and optimizing performance for our customers, and we do that through our redundant architecture, exceptional service, flexibility of scale, and low power and cooling costs,” said Kevin Timmons, chief technology officer, CyrusOne. “We are delivering strong performance for ShoreTel at our Carrollton facility, and we deliver on that promise time and again, as evidenced by the more than 125 Fortune 1000 customers in our portfolio that includes nine of the Fortune 20.”

ShoreTel selected CyrusOne because of its established reputation for highly reliable enterprise data center services and colocation solutions. CyrusOne engineers its facilities to include the underlying infrastructure required to support ShoreTel’s operations.

“Between the monitoring, firewalls, and support tools, we needed to bring hundreds of new systems online in our new primary facility. With CyrusOne, we were able to source everything we needed in four months. It’s the single best data center sourcing strategy I’ve ever seen,” said Dennis Schmidt, vice president of network systems engineering for ShoreTel.

Thanks to widespread Internet adoption and more than 10 billion connected devices around the world, companies became more excited than ever about the Internet of Things in 2014. Software development, like manufacturing, is a craft that requires the application of creative approaches to solve problems given a wide range of constraints. However, while engineering design may be craftwork, the production of most designed objects relies on a standardized and automated manufacturing process. By contrast, much of moving an application from prototype to production and, indeed, maintaining the application through its lifecycle has often remained craftwork. In his session at Dev...

The Internet of Things is a misnomer. That implies that everything is on the Internet, and that simply should not be - especially for things that are blurring the line between medical devices that stimulate like a pacemaker and quantified self-sensors like a pedometer or pulse tracker. The mesh of things that we manage must be segmented into zones of trust for sensing data, transmitting data, receiving command and control administrative changes, and peer-to-peer mesh messaging. In his session a...

The web app is Agile. The REST API is Agile. The testing and planning are Agile. But alas, Data infrastructures certainly are not. Once an application matures, changing the shape or indexing scheme of data often forces at best a top down planning exercise and at worst includes schema changes which force downtime. The time has come for a new approach that fundamentally advances the agility of distributed data infrastructures. Come learn about a new solution to the problems faced by software orga...
The OpenStack cloud operating system includes Trove, a database abstraction layer. Rather than applications connecting directly to a specific type of database, they connect to Trove, which in turn connects to one or more specific databases. One target database is Postgres Plus Cloud Database, which includes its own RESTful API. Trove was originally developed around MySQL, whose interfaces are significantly less complicated than those of the Postgres cloud database. In his session at 16th Cloud...
