NEW YORK, April 3, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Author and entrepreneur Alan Webber (http://www.alanfornm.com), who is running for election as Governor of New Mexico on a progressive Democratic platform, will visit New York City on Friday, April 11 for a campaign fundraiser. The event will be held 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Parlor, 286 Spring Street in Manhattan.
Webber co-founded Fast Company magazine in 1993 and is a former editorial director of the Harvard Business Review. He speaks and consults internationally on innovation, evolving marketplaces, and making economies work for everyone. He has lived in New Mexico for eleven years, and is troubled by the state's position at the bottom of the nearly every performance metric, where it has fallen under the current administration of Governor Susana Martinez.
"I'm coming to New York to visit old friends and meet new ones who share my need to improve education, save jobs and end poverty," said Webber. "These are common concerns brought on by stagnant economic policies that are not working in New Mexico, or anywhere else in the country. My goal is to bring together talented people and new ideas to fix these pervasive problems."
The cocktail event will feature a discussion on innovation, entrepreneurship, the role of government, and why businesspeople should be involved in politics. Suggested contribution is $125 and advance registration is required; to RSVP, visit http://www.nyfriendsofalan.com.
