NEW YORK, April 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Light Reading (www.lightreading.com), the market-leading online community for the global communications sector, today announced it has won two bronze Telly Awards for the six-minute video "Light Reading: The Movie." The Telly Awards honor the best film and video productions, ground-breaking online video content, and outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs.
"Light Reading: The Movie" won bronze awards in the "Internet/Online Video – Entertainment" and the "Branded Content – Viral" categories.
The video was created around the concept of original founder Stephen Saunders, rejoining Light Reading as CEO, and the re-launch of the site as a community-driven media platform in the fall of 2013. Saunders and his team showcased their transformation over the past seven years. The team pokes fun at itself in the video where they highlight several mock business ventures, including one in the food service industry where they dress as chickens and lobsters (ed. note: funnier than it sounds). They eventually see the "light" and agree to work together to create a new Light Reading.

"It's not Spinal Tap, but our video has trade journalists dressed as giant lobsters, and you can't miss with that kind of comedy gold," said Saunders. "At Light Reading we understand that managing next-gen communications networks is hard work; we hope that this video serves as a fun diversion for the industry."
