One Hotel in Woodland Hills, CA Hits a High Note in Bringing Music to Children

The Courtyard Los Angeles Woodland Hills Celebrates the Sound of Music in a Unique Partnership With The M.U.S.I.C. Foundation

WOODLAND HILLS, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/08/14 -- The hills are indeed alive with music, although not the ones made famous by a certain movie. Rather, it's the hills of Southern California that are singing thanks to the corporate sponsorship of the Courtyard Los Angeles Woodland Hills. Teaming up with The M.U.S.I.C. Foundation, this community-minded hotel is doing its part to bring music education to elementary-school children in the Los Angeles area.

The partnership between the hotel and the Foundation began with a personal connection. "Growing up in Illinois near Chicago, I was exposed to many diverse musical opportunities," recalls Director of Sales Vicki Dussaigne. "Throughout my childhood, I was surrounded by music at school and in my private life." So in June 2013, when she met the Foundation's Executive Director, she immediately knew it was an organization she wanted to help. Music training, after all, has been demonstrably shown to improve both scholastic achievement and behavior in children.

The hotel's ensuing corporate sponsorship is just one way the property distinguishes itself from other hotels near Warner Center in Woodland Hills. Each month, the property welcomes the Foundation's Board of Directors meeting within its stylish, 350-square-foot meeting room at no charge to the organization.

Unique among Woodland Hills hotels, the property has just one conference room to ensure personalized and attentive service to every group it hosts, including the Foundation's Board of Directors. Up to 12 members can sit down to boardroom-style seating, connect with free, high-speed Internet access and get inspired by the contemporary space as they strategize for the organization's future. A 55-inch, LED, HD television is also available should the Board of Directors wish to view some of the moving footage produced through the Foundation's video blog.

While this Marriott property in San Fernando Valley is poised to play an instrumental role in the success of the Foundation, it continues to be a dynamic option for business and leisure travelers. Its comfortable lobby features media pods alongside GoBoard technology for the latest in travel news, while guest rooms are both design-minded and functional. Visitors enjoy free Wi-Fi access throughout the hotel, fresh American cuisine at The Bistro and 24-hour access to the fitness center. Plus the property is located among hotels near VNY airport, LAX airport, and BUR airport making it a hotel that is as convenient as it is conscientious.

About the Courtyard Los Angeles Woodland Hills
Guests arriving to take advantage of the hotel's proximity to Warner Center or Malibu beaches will have a hard time leaving the Courtyard Los Angeles Woodland Hills. The beautifully designed property is not only convenient, after all, it's also extremely comfortable. Guest rooms feature 11-inch, Serta pillow-top mattresses with EcoSmart pillows; Paul Mitchell bathroom amenities; iHome sound systems; two-tier desks; and free Wi-Fi. Hungry guests will find healthy, hearty options for breakfast and dinner at The Bistro, with the option to work off any overindulgence at the 24-hour fitness center or in the heated pool. There is, in other words, plenty to keep guests happily engaged on property, right down to the 350-square-foot meeting room that's perfect for intimate gatherings.

How do APIs and IoT relate? The answer is not as simple as merely adding an API on top of a dumb device, but rather about understanding the architectural patterns for implementing an IoT fabric. There are typically two or three trends: Exposing the device to a management framework Exposing that management framework to a business centric logic Exposing that business layer and data to end users. This last trend is the IoT stack, which involves a new shift in the separation of what stuff happe...
DevOps is all about agility. However, you don't want to be on a high-speed bus to nowhere. The right DevOps approach controls velocity with a tight feedback loop that not only consists of operational data but also incorporates business context. With a business context in the decision making, the right business priorities are incorporated, which results in a higher value creation. In his session at DevOps Summit, Todd Rader, Solutions Architect at AppDynamics, discussed key monitoring techniques...

Fundamentally, SDN is still mostly about network plumbing. While plumbing may be useful to tinker with, what you can do with your plumbing is far more intriguing. A rigid interpretation of SDN confines it to Layers 2 and 3, and that's reasonable. But SDN opens opportunities for novel constructions in Layers 4 to 7 that solve real operational problems in data centers. "Data center," in fact, might become anachronistic - data is everywhere, constantly on the move, seemingly always overflowing. Net...

There's Big Data, then there's really Big Data from the Internet of Things. IoT is evolving to include many data possibilities like new types of event, log and network data. The volumes are enormous, generating tens of billions of logs per day, which raise data challenges. Early IoT deployments are relying heavily on both the cloud and managed service providers to navigate these challenges. In her session at Big Data Expo®, Hannah Smalltree, Director at Treasure Data, discussed how IoT, Big D...
The Internet of Things will greatly expand the opportunities for data collection and new business models driven off of that data. In her session at @ThingsExpo, Esmeralda Swartz, CMO of MetraTech, discussed how for this to be effective you not only need to have infrastructure and operational models capable of utilizing this new phenomenon, but increasingly service providers will need to convince a skeptical public to participate.
