MESA, Ariz., April 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Julie Hydzu, owner of PoppyPocket, announced today that she will be sponsoring an all woman's cycling team, PHenomenal Hope, in their upcoming race across the country. The native Pittsburgh team will start their race in Oceanside, California and will end in Annapolis, Maryland. This will be the third time the team has competed in the race that runs across 12 states with a total of 3,000 miles. The cycling team will be racing to bring awareness of pulmonary hypertension and to raise funds for the Pulmonary Hypertension Association.
As a member of the medical community, Hydzu is in frequent contact with individuals who have various illnesses. Pulmonary hypertension does not have a cure and it is a life threatening condition. By sponsoring the race, Hydzu hopes to play a small role in bringing awareness to PH. Living with pulmonary hypertension is often very uncomfortable and stressful. PoppyPocket and PHenomenal Hope want to highlight the illness so that one day there will be a cure for pulmonary hypertension.
"I've seen many people who suffer from pulmonary hypertension and it is not a comfortable way to live," said Hydzu in regards to the illness. "By sponsoring the amazing woman of the PHenomenal Hope team, I hope to play a role in advocating for the different victims of pulmonary hypertension."
When Hydzu's father, nicknamed Poppy, was diagnosed with colon cancer, she created the PoppyPocket to better conceal the different devices and cords he had to wear every day. Her product has been endorsed by doctors and has helped many people feel more comfortable while dealing with illnesses. Pulmonary Hypertension patients commonly have monitors and devices that they must attach to their bodies every day and through PoppyPocket, this can be achieved with more comfort and privacy.
