Bay Area Medical Center Renews Email Encryption Contract with Zix Corporation

Zix Corporation (ZixCorp), (Nasdaq: ZIXI), a leader in email data protection, announced that Bay Area Medical Center has renewed its contract for ZixTM Email Encryption in a three-year agreement. The healthcare organization has used Zix Email Encryption since 2004 to help meet compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

“We were one of the early pioneers of email encryption use in Wisconsin,” said Pete Eisenzoph, Director of Information Technology for Bay Area Medical Center. “Over the years, more healthcare players in the state have added Zix Email Encryption to their security strategy. As a result, sending and receiving encrypted email has become even easier.”

Bay Area Medical Center uses ZixGateway®, a policy-based email encryption service, to provide secure email to all employees. Bay Area Medical Center can automatically exchange transparent email encryption with any other ZixGateway customer without any additional set-up. More than 200 organizations send and receive encrypted email with Bay Area Medical Center without taking any extra steps or entering passwords. Recipients who do not use Zix Email Encryption can exchange secure email through ZixPort®, a mobile-friendly Web portal.

“When we originally selected Zix Email Encryption, we thought it was the best solution on the market. Ten years later Zix continues to be the leader and provides the ease of use that is so critical for our users,” said Eisenzoph. “By routing outbound communications through ZixGateway, we gain the peace of mind that protected health information is secured and compliant with HIPAA guidelines, no matter who sends the email.”

“ZixCorp has established itself as a proven leader in delivering email encryption to healthcare providers – now supporting the compliance needs of one in every five U.S. hospitals,” said Rick Spurr, ZixCorp’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “The loyalty of Bay Area Medical Center illustrates the value of our continued innovation to meet our customers’ needs and the power of transparency within the growing Zix user community. Each time another organization embraces Zix Email Encryption, the value of our utility for sending and receiving secure email becomes even greater due to the network effect.”
