SevenTwenty Strategies is proud to announce it has been awarded two gold
Pollie Awards from the AAPC, the industry’s highest honor bestowed upon
political consultants at the national and international level.
SevenTwenty was recognized in the public affairs division for best
website and less than full-page newspaper advertisement.
“SevenTwenty remains on the forefront of innovation in technology and
design,” President Pam Fielding said. “We are honored that AAPC has
recognized the hard work and creativity our team delivers on a daily
basis to help our clients tell their story.”
In the newspaper division, SevenTwenty, an integrated public relations
and public affairs firm, was recognized with a gold Pollie Award for its
work with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Together,
SevenTwenty and AANP developed a comprehensive campaign to inform
Washington decision makers about the high-quality and trusted role nurse
practitioners play in American medicine. The advertisement ran in
newspapers with a combined circulation of more than 70,000, which target
key decision makers in Congress and the White House. As a result of the
comprehensive campaign, the mentions of AANP’s Nurse Practitioner Week
on Google increased from 780,000 in 2012, to 1,710,000 in 2013.
“Nurse practitioners are a trusted and skilled group of health care
providers who are providing high quality, affordable access to
patient-centered care,” Dave Hebert, president of AANP, said.
“SevenTwenty was able to place our message front and center and show
decision makers in Washington the integral role that nurse practitioners
play in ensuring millions have access to highly-qualified health care
SevenTwenty was also recognized with the top honor in the
highly-competitive Internet division for the public affairs website for
the site StopExportingAmericanJobs.com on behalf of the National Council
of Textile Organizations (NCTO). With an increasing involvement in
online advocacy, the Internet division was one of the most competitive
for Pollie Awards.
“This year’s Pollie Awards were especially competitive for an off cycle
with over 1,600 entries. We were pleased to see innovative voter contact
and persuasion strategies applied in all segments, especially in our
Internet and social media categories, which saw a significant increase
in number over last year,” said AAPC CEO Art Hackney.
The AAPC announced this year’s winners at the 2014 Annual Pollie Awards
& Conference on April 4 in San Diego, CA. The Pollie Awards (Pollies)
are bipartisan honors awarded annually by the AAPC to members of the
political advertising and communications industry who have demonstrated
superior work on behalf of their candidates and causes. A blind jury of
their peers selects AAPC award winners. Esquire magazine has
dubbed the Pollies as “…the Oscars of political advertising.”
The annual Pollie Awards & Conference brings the leading political
professionals in the world together to network and hear from top
technology innovators, pollsters, pundits and service providers as the
2014 political cycle begins to heat up.

The security devil is always in the details of the attack: the ones you've endured, the ones you prepare yourself to fend off, and the ones that, you fear, will catch you completely unaware and defenseless. The Internet of Things (IoT) is nothing if not an endless proliferation of details. It's the vision of a world in which continuous Internet connectivity and addressability is embedded into a growing range of human artifacts, into the natural world, and even into our smartphones, appliances, a...

Fundamentally, SDN is still mostly about network plumbing. While plumbing may be useful to tinker with, what you can do with your plumbing is far more intriguing. A rigid interpretation of SDN confines it to Layers 2 and 3, and that's reasonable. But SDN opens opportunities for novel constructions in Layers 4 to 7 that solve real operational problems in data centers. "Data center," in fact, might become anachronistic - data is everywhere, constantly on the move, seemingly always overflowing. Net...

How do APIs and IoT relate? The answer is not as simple as merely adding an API on top of a dumb device, but rather about understanding the architectural patterns for implementing an IoT fabric. There are typically two or three trends:
Exposing the device to a management framework
Exposing that management framework to a business centric logic
Exposing that business layer and data to end users.
This last trend is the IoT stack, which involves a new shift in the separation of what stuff happe...

Scott Jenson leads a project called The Physical Web within the Chrome team at Google. Project members are working to take the scalability and openness of the web and use it to talk to the exponentially exploding range of smart devices. But if we really believe there will be trillions of these devices, that just can't scale. We need a system that is open a scalable and by using ...
