The CementBloc is nominated for four Manny awards, including Agency of the Year

NEW YORK, April 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The CementBloc has been nominated for four Manny awards, including Agency of the Year, Category II. The Mannys are awarded by MedAd News, a leading pharmaceutical business publication, and are regarded as among the most prestigious awards in the healthcare communications industry.

The CementBloc was honored as the Agency of the Year, Category III, in 2006 and in Category II in 2011. This nomination is the third time in four years that the Bloc has been nominated.

2013 was a landmark year for the agency, with several significant milestones:

  • The CementBloc was the most creatively awarded healthwellness communications company in the US, winning 69 domestic and global creative awards; 27 more than our next competitor, and 45 more than in 2012
  • The Bloc had strong organic and new business growth, including 13% top-line growth. New-business win rates were 73% with current clients and 50% with new clients

"We're thrilled and honored to receive four Manny nominations, including Agency of the Year," says Jennifer Matthews, Managing Partner. "It's a testament to the hard work and talent of our people and the client partners we represent."

Two of The Bloc's nominations, Best Interactive Physician Campaign and Best Professional Campaign, are for an integrated campaign for the ulcerative colitis treatment Giazo® from Salix, which included print ads, in-office materials, a website, and an iPad detail. The campaign challenged doctors' conventional approach to treating ulcerative colitis by focusing on the male patients who are famously reluctant to face their condition.

The fourth nomination, for Best Interactive Patient Campaign, is for Happy Fuel, a social network created by the Bloc that promotes the heavily researched connection between happiness and healthiness. Happy Fuel lets users upload and share the photos, songs, places, sounds, and thoughts that make them happy, and gauge their own happiness in the process.

"It's a thrill to be nominated for these awards, and we're particularly excited that they cover a variety of channels and stakeholders—consumer, HCP, print, and digital," said Stephanie Berman, Partner, Creative at The Bloc. Adds Elizabeth Elfenbein, also Partner, Creative, "Following on last year's success, it's great to see 2014 off to a strong start. It really speaks to the depth of talent here at The Bloc."

The 25th annual Manny Awards will take place on April 24 at Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers in New York City.
