Sigma Corporation Announces Pricing and Availability of 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens

The Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Prime Art Lens is Now Available at B&H Photo Video for $949

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - April 11, 2014) - B&H Photo and Sigma are pleased to announce the price and availability of the newest addition to its Art camera lens lineup, the 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens. Now available for pre-order at B&H Photo Video at an astonishing price of $949.

As the fundamental standard-length lens for full-frame DSLR cameras, Sigma has taken the reengineering of their 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM lens to a higher level. It now sits atop their Art line as a high-performance lens, ready to be embraced by pro shooters and all those who appreciate a good piece of glass. Available for Nikon F, Canon EF, and Sigma SA mounts, the lens' fast maximum aperture of f/1.4 enables consistently superior performance in low light and distinct shallow depth-of-field control.

Its minimum-focus distance has been improved to 15.7" and its maximum magnification ratio to 1:5.6. It is therefore a better lens for detailed close-ups than its predecessors, and with a new optical construction of 13 elements in 8 groups, including Special Low Dispersion glass elements, peripheral brightness is optimized and overall resolution improved. Sharpness at wide apertures is paramount to Sigma's redesign of its 50mm f/1.4.

A Hyper Sonic AF Motor, along with an optimized AF algorithm, produces quiet, smooth, and fast autofocus performance that benefits the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM lens' use in a wide variety of situations. This AF motor also permits full-time manual focusing control for refined precision by simply turning the focus ring at any time.
