Liquor Stores N.A. Ltd.-U.S. Appeals Court Re-Affirmation: Grocery Stores and Gas Stations in Kentucky Not Permitted to Sell Wine and Spirits

EDMONTON, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/11/14 -- Liquor Stores N.A. Ltd (the "Company") (TSX: LIQ), North America's largest publicly-traded liquor retailer reported that the sale of wine and spirits will not be permitted in grocery stores or gas stations in the state of Kentucky. Accordingly, the Company's strong market positioning in the state is preserved.

The maintenance of the status quo relates to a decision from the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit ("Appeals Court"), which denied a petition by the grocery store coalition to have their constitutional challenge re-heard by the Appeals Court. Consequently, there will be no change to the original Appeals Court opinion that upheld the constitutionality of the Kentucky state statute prohibiting the sale of wine and distilled spirits within grocery stores and gas stations.
