MISSION, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/11/14 -- Correctional Service Canada
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is pleased to announce that the 2013 Taylor Award was presented to Mrs. Alice Chambers and posthumously to the late Dr. Calvin Chambers.
Dr. Calvin Chambers and Mrs. Alice Chambers demonstrated compassion for, support of, and keen interest in incarcerated men and women for over 45 years. Recognizing the need for positive volunteer involvement to assist and encourage inmates in becoming social, law-abiding citizens and positive contributors, Calvin co-founded the M2/W2 organization (a faith-based agency that reaches out to British Columbia's offender community) in 1966.
Their dedication and faithfulness exemplifies compassion and loyalty in assisting offenders with their journey.
The award was presented at a ceremony held on April 11, 2014, at Ferndale Institution in Mission, British Columbia.
-- Sadly, Dr. Calvin Chambers passed away on March 12, 2014. -- The Taylor Award is presented annually to a CSC volunteer who exemplifies the spirit of dedication and caring needed to help offenders rebuild their lives. -- This year marks the 13th annual presentation of the Taylor Award. -- Every year, approximately 7,000 Canadians volunteer their time and energy in CSC institutions and in the community, helping offenders become law-abiding citizens.
"The energy and enthusiasm with which staff and volunteers undertake this annual Taylor Award recognition is a reflection of our shared belief in the importance of citizen involvement in the correctional process and public safety."

Even though it’s now Microservices Journal, long-time fans of SOA World Magazine can take comfort in the fact that the URL – soa.sys-con.com – remains unchanged. And that’s no mistake, as microservices are really nothing more than a new and improved take on the Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) best practices we struggled to hammer out over the last decade. Skeptics, however, might say that this change is nothing more than an exercise in buzzword-hopping. SOA is passé, and now that people are ...
