GREENVILLE, S.C., April 14, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Functional safety specialist kVA, in conjunction with global safety expert TUV-Nord, announces their flagship 4-day course, "Functional Safety and the IEC 61508 Standard," will be held in Greenville, SC from May 5-8, 2014. Participants in the full four-day training session may register for the optional certification exam held on Friday May 9. Trainees who pass the exam will be certified by TUV-Nord as an IEC 61508 Functional Safety Certified Engineer – Development (FSCED).
Training session participants will receive the powerful Excel-based FMEDA-Workbench tool for IEC 61508. This spreadsheet-based tool is developed by TUV-Nord to streamline analysis of safety-related hardware failures in accordance with IEC 61508 and IEC 62380. Participants will also receive a hard copy training manual containing a comprehensive view of the standard, and its implications for safety-critical electronic hardware, software, and systems engineering.
The training is targeted for engineers working in safety-critical electronic systems, managers responsible for developing and verifying safety-critical technologies, and safety and quality representatives seeking to verify compliance with the IEC standard for functional safety. Multiple real-world examples are used to illustrate key safety principles and applications.
