Gartner Names Digital Reasoning a “Cool Vendor” in Smart Machines

Digital Reasoning, a leader in cognitive computing, today announced it has been included in the Cool Vendors in Smart Machines, 2014(1) report by leading analyst firm, Gartner.

“Smart machines surprise us by doing what we thought machines couldn’t do, and similarly, some encroach on what people do. They extend us and enhance our abilities (by watching what we do, predicting our needs and acting on our behalf). They protect and promote us by helping manage the incoming tidal information floods and point out to us content and relationships we should be mining,” according to the Gartner report.

Digital Reasoning’s machine learning platform, Synthesys®, rapidly analyzes large volumes of electronic communications such as emails, chat, voice and social media – revealing relationships and facts about people, places and things that expose potentially critical security, governance, risk and compliance issues. Whether it’s a financial firm looking to reveal fraudulent behavior or regulators focused on uncovering previously unknown criminal networks and market manipulation, Digital Reasoning helps organizations become more proactive in using intelligence to protect their reputations, assets and people.

“We are honored to be recognized in Gartner’s Cool Vendor Report,” said Tim Estes, CEO and founder of Digital Reasoning. “Some day all software will learn, and that day is nearly upon us. The age of cognitive computing stands to amplify, augment, and multiply productivity in ways that would have been unimaginable just a few years ago. Today we are beginning to transform the way banks are monitoring reputation and conduct risks in a Big Data world.”

Scott Jenson leads a project called The Physical Web within the Chrome team at Google. Project members are working to take the scalability and openness of the web and use it to talk to the exponentially exploding range of smart devices. Nearly every company today working on the IoT comes up with the same basic solution: use my server and you'll be fine. But if we really believe there will be trillions of these devices, that just can't scale. We need a system that is open a scalable and by using ...

Why does developer experience matters, what makes for a great developer experience and what is the relationship between developer experience and the broader field of user experience? Software developers are gaining more influence over the purchase decisions of technologies with which they must build on and with which they must integrate. The cloud has transformed how we think about software quality. Instead of preventing failures, we must focus on automatic recovery from failure. In other words, resilience trumps traditional quality measures. Continuous delivery models further squeeze traditional notions of quality. Remember the venerable project management Iron Triangle? Among time, scope, and cost, you can only fix two or quality will suffer. Only in today's DevOps world, continuous testing, integration, and deployment upend...
