TORONTO, April 17, 2014 /CNW/ - Environics Communications has placed fourth on the annual list of Canada's 50 Best Workplaces, ranked #11 as Best Workplace for Women and named one of the Best Workplaces in Canada for fairness. Generated by the Great Place to Work® Institute, this list, and related stories, will appear in a special national report in today's issue of The Globe and Mail.
"We're honoured to be recognized by the Great Place to Work Institute in Canada as the top marketing communications firm in their listing," says Bruce MacLellan, president and CEO of Environics Communications. "Our culture is a combination of factors such as respect, trust, collaboration and innovation, and it drives creative work and great results for our clients. Our independent agency status enables a strong concentration on our people and to each other, and that fuels our success."
Notable programs at Environics include annual profit-sharing for all employees, company-paid trips on key anniversary dates, an annual company retreat, generous professional development funding, a wellness program that includes an onsite consultant plus individual counseling, daycare access with reputed organizations such as Kids & Co., and a friendly, relaxed culture.
This list of "Best Workplaces in Canada" is compiled by Great Place to Work® Institute Canada. The competition process is based on two criteria: two-thirds of the total score comes from a 58-statement survey completed by a random selection of employees, along with their open-ended comments about their organization; the remaining one-third of the score comes from an in-depth review of the organization's culture, including an evaluation of HR policies and procedures. This offers a rigorous representation of the organization from an employee perspective, and an overall portrait of the workplace culture. Together, they provide crucial data relative to the five trust-building dimensions of a great place to work®: credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie.
This year's list received over 300 nominations and over 60,000 employees participated in the 2014 "Best Workplaces in Canada" survey.
