TACOMA, Wash., April 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Seldens Designer Home Furnishings, a Puget Sound original and premier home furnishings destination for over four generations, announces the grand opening of the first dedicated Tommy Bahama Home Shop in the Pacific Northwest. The grand opening event will take place on April 24, 2014 from 6:00 until 9:00 pm. The evening will include live entertainment by noted Tacoma pianist Juan Perez along with appetizers and drinks from Cafe Pacific, featuring exclusive recipes from the Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar. Guests may register to win Tommy Bahama gift cards as well as a grand prize package that includes a weekend getaway to the five-diamond Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach CA, including airfare for two, lodging and entertainment.
"Customers today are looking to furnish their homes in a manner that reflects both their personality and their lifestyle," said Scott Selden, President and CEO of Seldens. "The Tommy Bahama brand is iconic for casual elegance. It's the hallmark of their apparel lines as well as their home collections. Our customers know and connect with the brand, which is why we embraced the opportunity to expand our longstanding and successful relationship with Tommy Bahama Home to include their new shop concept. The enhanced presentation not only features stunning rooms of both indoor and outdoor home furnishings and accessories, but also allows our talented design team to showcase a remarkable range of styling and looks. Customers appreciate the opportunity to see how great interior design can transform their homes. Our ability as a retailer to create those visual presentations is a huge benefit in validating design choices for our clients."
The new Tommy Bahama Shop is located in a dedicated area of the expansive 150,000 square foot Seldens showroom, which has been totally redesigned to accommodate the new brand presentation. Designers from Lexington Home Brands, one of the nation's premier fine home furnishings manufacturers, worked closely with the Seldens design team in creating the space. Lexington has produced all of the Tommy Bahama Home collections since the inception of the brand category over a decade ago.
There are currently over 20 unique collections of indoor furnishings, outdoor living designs and accessories in the portfolio, spanning a broad range of styling and price-points. Lexington's legacy of quality and design dates back over a century, and the company is renowned in the industry for innovative visual merchandising and award-winning lifestyle presentation. Seldens is the first retailer in the Pacific Northwest selected to present this new branded lifestyle format.
"Our company has grown with this community over the years as a result of talented designers here at the store and great partnerships with manufacturers who recognize the importance of quality, and understand the aspirations of our customers. The environment that each of us creates in our homes is perhaps the most transparent expression of who we are and how we choose to live. We find that customers need professional assistance in achieving a look they love, and one that speaks to their lifestyle. For my team, that's our passion. Lexington is one of those key partners who shares that passion and their Tommy Bahama brand is unique in its ability to create a transporting look across a broad range of styles—from traditional to contemporary to island living. Our customers simply love it."
Tommy Bahama is global brand, based in Seattle, known for their relaxed interpretation of casual elegant style. The company operates 130 retail locations both nationally and internationally with 14 locations featuring a Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar adjacent to the store. In addition to their own stores, the brand is featured at high-end retailers like Nordstrom and at fine boutiques and resort destinations worldwide. Tommy Bahama Home represents the brand's home furnishings category, whose products are designed and manufactured by Lexington Home Brands, based in High Point NC. The comprehensive offering includes furnishings for every room of the home, including custom upholstery, outdoor furniture and branded accessories like tableware, bed coverings and unique home accent items.
"We've done business with Scott Selden, his family, and their team for many years," said Phil Haney, President and CEO of Lexington Home Brands. "In today's retail environment, there is nothing more energizing than great design and a lifestyle presentation that inspires customers to envision that look in their own home. It's what we strive for at Lexington. Executing that mission requires a savvy merchant with a great eye for style, talented designers committed to keeping the look fresh and relevant, and a very cool space dedicated to showcasing the brand presentation. There are only a handful of retailers around the country with that unique set of attributes. We're delighted to be partnered with Seldens, whom we consider to be one of the best. The Tommy Bahama brand, in both the indoor and outdoor categories, represents the most stylish interpretation of casual elegance in the market today and we're delighted with both the presentation and visual impact of the new Tommy Bahama Shop at Seldens."
