Boeing Names Ursula English Environment, Health and Safety Leader

CHICAGO, April 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] today named Ursula English as vice president of its Environment, Health and Safety organization. She will be responsible for leading the company's workplace safety programs and its efforts to improve the environmental performance of Boeing products, services and global operations.

Effective April 25, English will report to John Tracy, Boeing chief technology officer and senior vice president of Engineering, Operations & Technology. English, 48, replaces Kim Smith, who was recently named vice president of Attack Helicopter Programs for Boeing Defense, Space & Security.

English brings essential manufacturing and supplier management experience to the Environment, Health and Safety leadership role, Tracy said.

"Ursula's wide range of expertise working with business partners, stakeholders and suppliers will serve to enhance Boeing's ongoing commitment to a zero-injury workplace and continuous improvement in our company's environmental performance," Tracy said.

English previously served as the director of supplier management for the Commercial Aviation Services business of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, where she was responsible for leading the extended supply chain, including contracting, supplier development, strategy development and performance.

Before that assignment, she was director of supplier management on the 787 Dreamliner mid-body team at Boeing Commercial Airplanes. In prior roles, she also served as a manufacturing superintendent on the 787 and managed teams in Intellectual Property Management and C-17 product support.

English joined Boeing in 1988 as an aircraft mechanic on the MD-80 program in Long Beach, Calif., after serving in the U.S. Air Force as a jet engine mechanic. While working at Boeing, she earned a bachelor's degree in business and management from Azusa Pacific University and a master's degree in human services from Springfield College. She holds Federal Aviation Administration airframe and power plant licenses.
