Member of Parliament Laurie Hawn announces support for arts and culture in Edmonton

EDMONTON, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/24/14 -- Department of Canadian Heritage

The Honourable Laurie Hawn, Member of Parliament (Edmonton Centre), announced this support today on behalf of Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages Shelly Glover.

An investment of $123,888 through the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund enabled the Citadel to purchase and install a multimedia projection system and a hear-back monitoring system for the 686-seat Shoctor Theatre.

Additional funding of $25,000 through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund has allowed the Theatre to present the Beyond the Stage series. The series features folk, cabaret and jazz music and includes elements of theatre and comedy. Community engagement activities, offered in conjunction with the series, include panel discussions and artist talks.
