The GunBox Launches Updated Version

Version 2.0 Brings New Features That Will Enhance the GunBox's Next Gen Safety and Style

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- (Marketwired) -- 04/25/14 -- The GunBox represents a great leap forward in safe, secure gun storage. The company today announced from the NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits (booth #6950) that it has launched The GunBox version 2.0, which includes new features to further enhance secure storage and rapid access to a handgun.

Deciding where and how to store a gun is critical. Responsible gun owners want quick access to their firearm, but also demand security so those who should not have it, particularly children, cannot gain access. The ideal solution is a lockbox that offers both security and quick access. Historically, finding a product that offers both has been a challenge -- until now. The GunBox is a sleek, high tech firearm storage box that offers the best of both worlds. It is made from aircraft strength aluminum alloy. Instead of an unwieldy key or combination lock, it offers a biometric fingerprint scanner and RFID scanner read through a wristband, RFID sticker, and now a ring that allows secure, yet quick access to the gun inside.

New features include:

  • A bidirectional locking mechanism to resist shock
  • New RF ring access capabilities (customized rings with an RFID chip embedded)
  • Additional options for mounting The GunBox in any orientation such as upside-down below a desk or shelf, or vertically behind a nightstand.

"The GunBox is designed to defend our freedoms and to help protect our children," said Ryan Hyde, CEO of The GunBox. "We have added several new features to further ensure the security, safety and functionality of the product. The GunBox has been rigorously tested to be the best solution available today. It is designed to be tough, yet fit with anyone's style. Simply put, The GunBox removes any objections a person may have to owning a firearm."

Other features include:

  • 360 Biometric fingerprint scanner (holds multiple fingerprints)
  • RFID scanner
  • Aircraft strength aluminum alloy shell
  • Internal motion/vibration sensor with audible alarm
  • Two USB ports for charging devices or connecting accessories
  • Battery backup with shut off switch
  • Kensington lock port (lock and cable not included)

The GunBox offers three versions: 1) RF, which provides access through the RFID bracelet, sticker or ring, 2) Biometric adds an additional layer of security with biometric fingerprint technology to open the GunBox, and 3) Premier adds GPS tracking and 24/7 monitoring, tracking and alert notifications (with a yearly subscription fee.)

"We will be demonstrating The GunBox and its exciting new features at the NRA show," Hyde added. "We will also be accepting applications for new dealers nationally and internationally as we have experienced demand around the world for this product."

The Industrial Internet revolution is now underway, enabled by connected machines and billions of devices that communicate and collaborate. The massive amounts of Big Data requiring real-time analysis is flooding legacy IT systems and giving way to cloud environments that can handle the unpredictable workloads. Yet many barriers remain until we can fully realize the opportunities and benefits from the convergence of machines and devices with Big Data and the cloud, including interoperability, ...
Wearable devices have come of age. The primary applications of wearables so far have been "the Quantified Self" or the tracking of one's fitness and health status. We propose the evolution of wearables into social and emotional communication devices. Our BE(tm) sensor uses light to visualize the skin conductance response. Our sensors are very inexpensive and can be massively distributed to audiences or groups of any size, in order to gauge reactions to performances, video, or any kind of present...

“DevOps is really about the business. The business is under pressure today, competitively in the marketplace to respond to the expectations of the customer. The business is driving IT and the problem is that IT isn't responding fast enough," explained Mark Levy, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Serena Software, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at DevOps Summit, held Nov 4–6, 2014, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.
Today, IT is not just a cost center. IT is an enabler and driver of business. With the emergence of the hybrid cloud paradigm, IT now has increasingly more capabilities to create new strategic opportunities for a business. Hybrid cloud allows an organization to utilize multi-tenant public clouds, dedicated private clouds, bare metal hosting, and the associated support and services for the right use cases through an on-demand, XaaS model. This model of IT creates tremendous opportunities for busi...

The term culture has had a polarizing effect among DevOps supporters. Some propose that culture change is critical for success with DevOps, but are remiss to define culture. Some talk about a DevOps culture but then reference activities that could lead to culture change and there are those that talk about culture change as a set of behaviors that need to be adopted by those in IT. There is no question that businesses successful in adopting a DevOps mindset have seen departmental culture change, ...
