Field Law Community Fund Opens Online Voting to Public

Regional Law Firm Asks for Community Input on Selecting Program Finalists

CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/29/14 -- Field Law, a regional law firm with offices in Calgary, Edmonton and Yellowknife, opens the online voting phase for the Field Law Community Fund Program. The Program, which supports local initiatives and causes within the community, is asking for the public's input in deciding which of the 84 qualified applicants will receive funding from the Program to help turn their project into a reality.

The Field Law Community Fund Program provides $75,000 annually to local projects and/or organizations, offering an interactive method of engagement with the communities that Field Law serves.

Through a combination of community online voting and deliberation by a local judging panel, finalists will be announced with each winner receiving anywhere from $1,000 to the maximum award for their community market, which is $30,000 in each of the two Alberta markets and $15,000 in the Northwest Territories market. The voting process is meant to create a dialogue with the local community in an effort to help each cause gain more profile and for the judging panel to better understand which projects resonate with community members.

"Field Law is keen to make a meaningful difference in our communities," says Jim Casey, Managing Partner at Field. "To make the most significant impact, we understand that direction from the public will enable us to make a more informed decision regarding where funds are really needed."

Corporate social responsibility and community engagement is front of mind for the team at Field law, both at a professional and personal level.

"After a very successful inaugural year we are proud to be affecting positive change in our communities once again," said Doreen Saunderson, Calgary Managing Partner. "Each of this year's applicants has brought forth incredible ideas and we are very excited to involve the public in determining this year's recipients."

Field Law's preferred causes (but not exclusive) are those that support education, healthcare, at-risk youth, homelessness, women's organizations, community and sports or arts and culture.

The Program launched firm-wide at all three of Field's offices in Edmonton, Calgary and Yellowknife. To view the applicants and share your vote, visit www.fieldlawcommunityfund.com/2014-vote by May 23, 2014.
