Promisec, a pioneer in endpoint security and compliance solutions, today added a critical service update to its cloud-based Integrity service and Endpoint Manager product suite in response to Microsoft’s recently reported security flaw, which affects all available versions of its Internet Explorer (IE) web browser for Windows PCs.
In developing this critical service update, Promisec thoroughly researched and evaluated the mitigation options offered by Microsoft to create a solution with the lowest possible impact to the user experience. The choice involves switching on IE's Enhanced Protected Mode in versions 10 and 11.
Promisec’s Integrity Cloud-based product offers (1) a monitoring service, which allows prospects to inspect all endpoints and alert on all machines with IE's Enhanced Protected Mode off or not available, and (2) remediation capabilities, which allow prospects to activate "on the fly" IE's Enhanced Protected Mode.
For Customers who want an on-premise solution, Promisec’s Endpoint Manager (PEM) enables users to inspect systems which are exposed to this IE vulnerability, and then enable an immediate remediation switching on IE's Enhanced Protected Mode on any machine where it is disabled.
“Customers have been calling us with questions regarding this critical zero-day vulnerability. We have mobilized our incident response team to quickly assess the options and are releasing a solution today that is not invasive and allows customers to continue to conduct normal business operations,” said Dan Ross, CEO of Promisec. “We believe this solution is more practical than the current remediation options offered by Microsoft, and will allow users to effectively manage their risk profile without negatively impacting the user experience.”
